Page 2 CLUB/GROUP/PROJECT CONNECTION Farm Bureau Dairy Breakfast We had over 20 4-H youth and parent volunteers for the June Dairy Breakfast. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy weekend to assist with the Farm Bureau fundraising efforts. The Farm Bureau appreciates the help and they have donated money to our organization each year as a thank you. National 4-H Dairy Conference October 1 UW-Madison Participants learn about production, processing, marketing and use of dairy products, and develop a broader understanding of careers available in dairy production, biotechnology, genetics, marketing and other selected areas. For more information, once available: http://www.uwex.edu/ces/4h/events/dairyconf/index.cfm Celebrate 4-H Come and celebrate the end of another successful 4-H year on Sunday, October 8th, at Comfort Suites in Hayward. We will start with swimming from 4-6 p.m. followed by a pizza dinner and awards. Be sure to mark this date on your calendars. Please call or email Brittany at the 4-H office by Friday, October 6th, to let us know if you are planning on attending, so we know how many pizzas to order. Brittany s number is 715-638-3300 and her email is brittany.pasanen@ces.uwex.edu. Hope to see you there. Swine Project We had a wonderful group of youth participate in the Swine Project this year. We learned about swine parts and how to successfully show swine in the fair. Thank you to all of the parents for supporting their youth in this project. We also want to thank all of the MASC families that helped put up the swine barn walls before the fair. Looking forward to another great year in the Swine Project. If you are interested in showing swine at the 2018 Sawyer County Fair, please make sure to contact Jeremiah or Donna Knuckey at 715-266-4402 and we would be happy to assist you with signing-up or answer any questions.

Page 3 2017 Fall Forum CLUB/GROUP/PROJECT CONNECTION Adult and Youth Leaders - Mark Your Calendars for Fall Forum and Hall of Fame Celebration. Don't miss out on a great statewide workshop for youth and adult leaders!!! What: Fall Forum and Hall of Fame Celebration When: November 3-5, 2017 (starting with registration at 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 3 and ending 10:30 a.m. November 5) Where: Green Lake Conference Center, Green Lake<http://glcc.org/index.html> Who: Each county is encouraged to send a delegation of youth and adults * 7th - 13th grade youth * Adult volunteer leaders * Staff are invited and encouraged to attend as your schedule permits Registration Fee (includes meals, breaks, facility fees and supplies) Cost: $85.00 plus room rate of $25.00 (depending on how many youth in the room) youth pay $50.00 rest paid by our county 4-H program. Certified adult leaders are paid for by the Sawyer County 4-H program. The program kicks off Friday evening with over 15 interactive sessions. Saturday offers more than 20 workshops to choose from. Top off the night with a special celebration where up to 10 people will be inducted into the Wisconsin 4-H Hall of Fame. An evening of circle dancing and table games will follow the celebration. Plus an ice cream hospitality sponsored by Cedar Crest Ice Cream. Sunday morning brings a high energy program that you can use at the club or community level. All youth participants need to have a chaperone who has completed Youth Protection identified when they register. 4-H Ice Cream Booth Thank you to all of the fabulous volunteers for assisting in the 4-H Ice Cream Booth. We had a successful year and sold out of most of the ice cream. The funds raised at the ice cream booth support our annual senior scholarships as well as any 4-H trips or camps that you choose to participate in. Thank you, again, and see you next year!

Page 4 CLUB/GROUP/PROJECT CONNECTION 4-H Club/group Charter Information Wisconsin 4-H Youth Conference Youth Conference is a 4 day event held yearly in June at the UW-Madison campus. Youth in grades 7-10 are able to stay in the dorms and participate in service learning projects and other project workshops. You may learn to sail, or canoe or kayak, build a bluebird house, repair a bike, learn ideas for working with Cloverbuds, participate in a STEM workshop, or learn new leadership skills to name a few of the things offered. In the evenings, there are dances, speakers, a talent show, art show, and a presentation from the Drama Company. This year Shahala White from the Winter Evergreens Club attended with leader Debi Steiner. 4-H Club/group Financial audits need to be turned in by our September Leaders Association meeting on September 12th, so we can close out last year s financial information for the year that ended on June 30 th, 2017. This is a piece of the charter to finish out your financial year, then we can audit it and get it sent in with the upcoming year s charter. These Charter documents will be due by October 15 th to the Sawyer County Extension office, who will forward to the state liaison, Matt Calvert. Winter Evergreens, Stone Lake, 4-Leaf Clovers, MASC and Sawyer County 4-H Clubs, Inc. are those that need to re-charter for the upcoming year. Page 5 DID YOU KNOW? Summer camp 2017 Eleven youth from Sawyer County 4-H attending Trail s End Camp in Bruce, Wi on July 10th-13th, alongside youth from Price and Rusk County 4-H. This 3 day camp offered youth the opportunity to learn new things, make new friends, and give back to the camp with a service learning project. Youth participated in arts and crafts, recreation, swimming, STEM, along with singing camp songs, playing games, and creating skits for campfire programs. On Wednesday, it was choose your activity, with offerings in Wilderness First Aid, Fishing and Archery, Canoeing, Photography, Theater arts, and a save the earth program. It was a fun filled and active 3 days.
