Navigating Words Their Way Digital Demo Site (if you don t have your credentials): Visit http://pearsonappstore.com/staging/. School Site (if you have your credentials): Visit http://pearsonappstore.com/. Steps to Follow This is the Pearson App Store where you will find access to Words Their Way: Words Study in Action program. Click WTW Apps. Select your device. The orange symbols stand for your four options. Click the buttons beneath the symbol to gain access to the Teacher and Student Apps. Download the Words Their Way Teacher and Student Apps or browser version. Select your district name, and enter your credentials to log in. My username is: My password is: Visit ClassView to upload students information and create classes. Explore ClassView. Click ClassView. Teachers will sign in to ClassView to create classes, enter students information, and manage their rosters. Teachers can export rosters so that they have access to all of their students credentials. Broadcasting, Projecting, and Expanding Content. Throughout the lessons, teachers have the capability to broadcast, project, and expand content. Broadcast ability to push content to students devices. Project ability to project content using a whiteboard or projector Expand opens the full screen When teachers do this, the Broadcast and/or Project indication light(s) will turn on. Log in to the Teacher App. Explore the Planner tab. Explore the Planner tab. The drop down menu at the top left corner is the content selection for all 5 developmental stages (Emergent Early Letter Name, Letter Name, Within Word Pattern, Syllables and Affixes, and Derivational Relations). Click the drop down arrow and choose All Books. This will take you to the QSI (Qualitative Spelling Inventory) Click the drop down arrow again and choose a stage. This will take you to the overview of the sorts. o The planner provides an overview of each sort and the words to be taught and practiced. The bottom of the screen are six main tabs: Planner (which is what you are on), Sorts, Assignments, Library, Messages, and Connect. Let s explore each tab. Click Planner in the navigation bar. To begin, Select different developmental levels (Emergent Early Letter Name, Letter Name, Within Word Pattern, Syllables and Affixes, and Derivational Relations) from the top left drop down menu. Select a sort from the Sort drop down menu. Read the Student Objectives and Sort instructions. Click Teach at the bottom of the screen. Explore the Sorts tab. From the Sorts navigation: Visit the sort for that lesson. The lesson segments include the following: o Introduce o Practice o Apply o Extend Explore Introduce segment. The Introduce segment varies on the stage you are teaching. Emergent Early Letter Name, Letter Name, and Within Word Pattern Stages: Read a Rhyme from the Big Book of Rhymes to introduce the sort. Introduce/ Model the Sort (choose 1 of 3 ways) 1. Use print assignment from the consumable Student Book. 2. Use Project button on this screen to discuss sort categories. 3. Go to Assignments tab to model online. Syllables and Affixes and Derivational Relations Stages: Introduce the Sort by displaying the words and read them aloud. Model the Sort (choose 1 of 3 ways) 1. Explore the Assignments tab. Click the Assignments tab. Select a Sort, and click Model. Explore Model segment. Assign Assignments. Notice the Translate button on right side of screen. 46 languages Translates directions (I icon) Translates word list (+ icon) Click and drag word or images to the correct column. Green checkmark will appear when correctly placed Red checkmark will appear when incorrectly placed. Two errors are allowed before autocorrect placement When modelling is complete click on top left arrow to go back to Assignments tab. Assign sort by clicking send to class. Teachers can broadcast to students or ask students to click on the Assignments tab to view their assignments. Students can practice sorts independently and submit the sort when finished. Explore Apply segment. Apply the Sort can be modelled from the projector while students use either the printed Student Edition or the Notebook tab on their device. Student can enter the Notebook Click on Class Notes Choose a graphic organizer Complete the Apply assignment Students can save the Note Teachers can view the Notebook in real time from the Assignments tab. Click on Student Name Click on View Notebook The second dot on the apply screen has students doing a Word Hunt in the suggested book. Click Library in the navigation bar. Explore the different ways to view the texts. Search for texts by title, author, or genre. Click a text to preview it. Teachers can Project the book while students use the Notebook feature to record the words found in the book, or students can read the book on their own device. Explore the Extend the Sort segment. Extend the Sort develops vocabulary. Teachers can broadcast the assignment while students use their Notebook to complete the assignment. Explore the Messages and Connect tabs. Click Messages in the navigation bar. Check to see if there are any alert messages or updates. Click Connect in the navigation bar. Type in a question and options to create a sample poll. Click Buzz to explore how to send comments and stars to students. Log in to the Student App. Explore the Student App. Explore the tabs in the navigation bar to experience the Words Their Way: Digital Words Study in Action through the student perspective.
