NOVEMBER 28, 2018 The Good News SJB s Weekly Newsletter PUT THIS ON YOUR CALENDAR! Principal s Weekly Letter This Sunday, December 2 marks the beginning of Advent a time to prepare our hearts for Jesus coming on Christmas. It is customary to use an Advent wreath a circular candleholder usually decorated with pine branches and four candles. The candles represent the four Sundays of Advent (December 2, 9, 16 and 23) and when all of the candles are lit, Christmas will be right around the corner. The first purple candle, which will be lit this Sunday is called the Candle of Hope. It represents God s promise and hope. We can have hope because God is faithful and will keep the promise he made to us. Our hope comes from God. On Monday, December 4, we will begin our Advent prayer Truth in the Tinsel. Each school day in December, with the exception of Wednesday, two ornaments will be added to the Christmas trees in the First Floor Gathering space. Each ornament is significant in the Christmas story, and each day the meaning of the ornament will be shared in the morning announcements. Each class has been assigned an ornament, which each students will make and then hang on the trees. Next week s ornaments are as follows: Monday, December 4: Light (1B: Mrs. Knudson) & Kingdom (PKA: Mrs. Filidore) Tuesday.
