PROJECT DESCRIPTION EVS project Outward Bound Youth empowerment The aim of the project is to help young people improve their personal development, enhance employability and improve career prospects, empowering them to better participate in the democratic life of their community and to successfully compete on the job market. The volunteers will be directly involved in the work of OBC, in the office, in Zagreb and on outdoor programs and programs for youth in OB educational centre, in Veliki Žitnik, small village in the rural region of Lika. The volunteers will work as part of organizing team for OB projects where they will acquire teamwork skills, managerial and leadership skills, ability to communicate with the group, observe and evaluate group dynamics. During the realization of the projects and international youth programs their understanding and responsiveness to social, linguistic and cultural diversity will develop. They will be encouraged to plan, write and design their own project ideas, their presentation skills, self-confidence, creativity, sense of initiative and expression will develop. Intercultural environment, created by volunteers coming from different countries, as well as the structure of the program will create a basis for a dialogue aimed at promoting solidarity, respect, social cohesion and tolerance among young people. Volunteers will develop and improve a range of skills and competences during their EVS experience digital competences and media skills, social and civic competences, cultural awareness, communication in foreign languages.

Profile of the volunteers personal commitment and willingness to actively participate in all the activities positive attitude and desire to take on new experiences motivation to learn, develop and improve their skills and use them no previous qualifications or educational level are required participants facing economical obstacles such as unemployment will have priority age: 18 30 years old Learning outcomes of volunteers Outward Bound method, experiential learning and non-formal education tools and methods Croatian culture, customs and the local culture (linguistic support and basic Croatian language course will be organized); Erasmus+ program, EVS and basic education about the EU and European Commission programs. they will develop awareness about healthy behaviors, importance of sports and outdoor activities.

HOSTING ORGANIZATION Outward Bound Croatia (OBC) OBC is a member of the Outward Bound International a leading organization providing outdoor experiential learning programs. The main field of activity is organization and implementation of innovative outdoor programs for school children and youth, with special concern to youth with fewer opportunities. We also organize programs for adult groups and professionals in the field of outdoor education. Programs include courses in nature, teaching various technical skills and sports, learning how to overcome physical and mental challenges and result in building self-esteem and discovering one's own full capacities, which can later be transferred to everyday life. Special attention is also given to social and environmental responsibility and the impact of one's actions on the group and society as a whole. Our values: compassion, integrity, courage, trust and cooperation. Learning through experience, challenge and adventure in a supportive environment are the principles we use to design and deliver programs with targeted outcomes like character development, leadership and service.

VOLUNTEERING WORK DESCRIPTION Work schedule Plan of volunteer work and activities will be structured and working hours set in advance. Team-meetings with the volunteers will be held on a regular basis. The schedule will be from 9 a.m. 4 p.m. with one-hour lunch break. During the programs for children and youth, trainings and international events, tasks and schedule will be set according to the program and the volunteers interests. Tasks in the office Supporting the staff in the everyday activities Promotion and public relations, web-page, social networks, blog Active involvement in the preparation, writing and applying the projects for grants Erasmus + and other grants Tasks related to multimedia (videos, movies, directing, filming, digital images processing) Tasks during OBC educational programs In the period when we provide programs for children and youth, trainings and international events, there is more work and the engagement of the volunteers will be more intense and on many different levels organization, practical aspects of project management, evaluation and monitoring, presenting the projects through media and social networks, finding creative ideas to promote projects and disseminate results and visibility of our organization s work, Erasmus + program and EVS.

PRACTICAL INFO Practical arrangements travel and visa costs are covered for travel expenses each volunteers receive up to 275 Euros (in the amount of the ticket s prices) pocket money: 120 Euros per month money for food is 140 Euros per month food is organized by volunteers and partly by organizers (during the programs), accommodation costs are covered internet access is provided by the organizer Location Volunteers will be placed in Zagreb in an apartment provided with all the facilities to support the volunteers needs. Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, a growing city, settled between Medvednica mountain which is also a nature park and the river Sava, offers a lot of possibilities and opportunities, depending on one s interests and needs. During the OBC programs that mostly take place in our educational centre in Veliki Žitnik, near the town of Gospić, rural part of Croatia, two hours of drive by car from Zagreb, volunteers will be placed in the educational centre, actively involved in the program, which also includes outdoor activities and sleeping outside. Transfer and food during program in educational programs are covered by OBC.
