Hannaford has notified the Club that we will receive a donation for every Reusable Cause Bag sold during October!

The Club gave its thanks to John & Pat Mulligan for their hospitality and generosity, providing their home and patio for our Steak and Lobster Dinner! Pat Lane asked for prayers for Grace Powers, who suffered a stroke. PRESENTATIONS President Jean awarded four pin tabs for Perfect Attendance to: Craig Daniels for 5 years, Ron Wagner for 18 years, Joe Behson for 23 years, & to David Booker for 35 years! CONGRATULATIONS TO A HARD-WORKING CREW! PROGRAM Program Chair Bill Whipple introduced member John Mulligan who gave some thoughts on a Public Water Supply for the Town of Sand Lake. At present, our town has a municipal sewer system, but our water supply is privately owned. Averill Park needs public water. Private wells are adequate for most properties in West Sand Lake. Many engineering studies have been conducted over the years, and most show high capital cost for such a system. Any public water system will require a distribution system, because the topography of the town varies widely. Pressure zones will be required for the distribution system. Available public water supply sources include local ground water, local surface water, or purchase of water from Troy, whose water source is the Tomhannock Reservoir located in the Town of Pittstown, with the treatment plant in North Troy. This newer part of Troy s system is in excellent condition, the water quality is great, is capable of producing 35.5 million gallons per day, but it also serves about seven surrounding communities. The old water mains in the central part of the city are over 100 years old, and are starting to fail. Water rates in Troy are very high, about $7 million per year. Estimated water demand for our town, assuming 6000 people live in the area that could be

served, would range from 480,000 gallons per day to a maximum of 720,000 gallons per day. Westfall Village has a privately owned public water system which contains 2 wells each capable of producing 100 gallons per minute, is disinfected with sodium hypochlorite (no filtration needed), and has a booster pump station to raise the pressure to buildings. It is rated for a safe yield of 39,000 gallons per day based on an estimate of recharge rates for the development s area only. Ground elevation varies in our town from 530 ft. in West Sand Lake to 880 ft. along Route 43 near Glass Lake, so pressure regulating tanks would be needed to equalize household pressure. A public referendum would be necessary to decide if the people want to undertake the expense of the system, and many steps preceding this would be necessary to educate people about all the details and expenses. Interest was high on this topic, and many questions were asked. Thanks to John for his expertise, and the time and effort he spent preparing this program. HAPPY DOLLARS $ Joe Behson: Margaret and I had a great time in Wales hiking and sightseeing. I m happy to see Marie Patanian here tonight; she s president of the WSL K-Kids! $ Eve Ward: Thanks again to John and Pat Mulligan for their hospitality! $ Skip Patton: We had a wonderful weekend in the Thousand Islands of the St. Lawrence with good friends, John and Noreen Yost, riding in a vintage wooden speedboat! $ Jim Rogers: We helped celebrate our granddaughter s 18 th birthday Saturday. Thanks to John Mulligan for tonight s excellent program! $ Rose Metchick: I m happy to report that my EMT license has been extended for three more years! $ Jim Colabelli: Thanks again to the Mulligans! In Ron s absence, I cooked the steaks. We have also been the guests of the Yosts in Clayton, NY! $ Pat Lane: I m happy that Pat Mulligan said we can do it again next year! $ Bryce Ginther: I m sorry I missed the dinner, but I was in New Jersey with the church group doing flood repair from years ago. So many people have lost everything, and sadly, many of them have been victims of fraudulent contractors who took their money and never did the promised work! $ John Mulligan: I also had a great time at the Steak & Lobster cookout. Lots of work but lots of helpers made it fun! $ Bill Whipple: Thanks to everyone for the cards of sympathy last April when our family suffered great losses. And thanks to John Mulligan and Dave Booker for helping me with my program responsibility!

$ John Brownrigg: After three years of waiting, we finally had the closing on the East Greenbush property last Friday and the bulldozers started working today! As your next president, I want to appoint Jean Hamlin our ambassador to Minnesota so she can keep track of the doings of Lena and Ole! $ Jean Hamlin: This is my last meeting, and I want to thank everybody for all the help you ve given me all year! Because I ve moved so many times, I ve never had many close friends, but I count all of you that way now! DOOR PRIZES: Case of leftover CoorsLight donated by John Brownrigg, won by Bill Whipple! Bottle of wine provided by Bill Whipple was won by Bob Loveridge! 50/50 worth $24 tonight was won by Ron Wagner! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * PROGRESSIVE 50/50 will grow no more!
