V. USEFUL INFORMATION Adventure week end in Evian les Bain region This kind of activity is extremely popular with our French and international Students. The activities take place near the Geneva lake area (half day drive from Troyes) It is organized by a professional specialized agency (called Takamaka ) in cooperation with the UTT s Sports Department. 4 activities (canyoning, paragliding, rafting, Via ferrata) are included in the price of the week end and are at beginners level. Students will be required to confirm the activities they want to take later on (a softer activity will be available instead of canyoning). Canyoning is traveling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include other outdoor activities such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling (rapelling), and/or swimming. Paragliding is the recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. Rafting is a challenging recreational outdoor activity using an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other bodies of water. This is usually done on white water or different degrees of rough water, in order to thrill and excite the raft passengers. Students MUST know how to swim for the canyoning and rafting activities.
