It was a great success. Please see the Parish Newsletter entry below for more detail. KS2 Performance: Every year the children within KS2 put on a superb play, where the Yr6 take lead roles. For this to happen we rely on help and support from parents. We especially need assistance with putting up the back drop which stands behind the stage. If you would like to get involved, please see Miss Harris. Midday Supervisor Vacancy: PART TIME, TERM TIME ONLY. 7.5 HOURS PER WEEK, FIXED TERM BASIS Grade C pt7-11( 12,915-14,880 pa pro rata) (Actual Salary 2723-3137 pa) The Governors of the school require a Midday Supervisor to work five days per week supervising children at lunch time from 11.45am 1.15pm to include setting up and taking down the dining tables. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to appropriate vetting, including an enhanced CRB clearance disclosure check. If you are interested, please contact the school office by 9.00 am Monday 19 th May. To start as soon as possible. Kempsford Brownie Coffee & Croissants: All welcome, we will be showing some of the great things Kempsford Brownies have been up to, our future plans & selling homemade cakes. It is happening this Wednesday in the school hall at 3pm. By Mrs Kent School Photographer: The photographer will be in school on Wednesday 4 th June to take a range of photographs, including class and individual Yr6. Traffic: Can we please ask everyone to be aware of their speed whilst driving through the village? We are concerned about the safety and welfare of our children. In May 2011, one of our children was involved in a collision with a car that was not speeding but he still suffered from severe head injuries. RIAT: This year it is the 50 th anniversary of the Red Arrows. The Tattoo has been extended to become a 3 day event, to include Friday 11 th July. We have been reassured by the organisers that the increase in traffic on this day will be at an acceptable and manageable level. The flying displays will start at 10am and finish at 6pm. Clubs: The children are enjoying the range of lunchtime and after school clubs this term. There are still spaces in the multi-sport skills club on Fridays. If you are interested, please get further details from the office. Sports Day: This annual event will be held on Friday 20 th June at 1pm, with a reserve date of Thursday 26 th June at 1pm. Please come along and support the school and cheer on your family house

Armed Forces Day 2014: We are supporting this event on Friday 27 th June by holding a non-uniform day. It s an opportunity to do two things. Firstly, to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Secondly, it gives the nation an opportunity to Show Your Support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets. If your child/ren would like to take part we are promoting a red, white and blue theme (or they can come in camouflage or flight suits) and asking for a 1 donation, which will go towards the Forces Children Trust. This is a charity devoted to helping dependent children that have lost a parent whilst serving with the Armed Forces (www.forceschildrenstrust.org). By Mrs Cooke & Mrs Cornish ASC: During After School Club next term the following clubs will be taking place: Wednesdays cooking club starting on 4 th June with the last session on 9 th July, Thursdays Mathletics starting on 5 th June with the last session on 10 th July, Both clubs will run from 3pm-4pm and will be held in the After School Club room. Please use the normal booking system. Booking slips can be found on the notice board in the reception area or in the lobby in After School Club. Please use the parent post box when returning your booking forms. There is no extra charge to take part in these clubs, you will be charged at the After School Club hourly rate of 3.50 per hour. By Miss Carter

Parish News: April Entry Pop Mime & End of Term Events The end of term saw the children (and staff) enjoy two very popular events in the School s calendar. On Thursday 3 rd April the whole school participated in an Easter Egg Hunt, around the school grounds, where the children had great fun finding little Easter bunnies which had a remarkable likeness to Mrs Smart, these they could then exchange for an Easter egg or two! That same evening children Years 3 and above participated in the annual Pop Mime competition. Pop Mime first took place in Kempsford School 10 years ago and sees children miming along to tracks performed by their favourite Pop Stars. The idea for Pop Mime was dreamed up by Bev Wright and it s her family along with Pam Smart s family who sponsor the trophies. The judges this year were Mr Iain Smart, making his ninth appearance having been a judge at the very first competition ten years ago, Miss Lucy Gray, a past pupil who sings with her band called "Remedy" and Mr Alex Britt, a past pupil and winner of Pop Mime. All the children who entered made a great effort with their costumes, props and performances but there could only be two winners. The individual performance was won by Rachel Woods who performed Katy Perry s Roar and the Group winners were Daniel Sampson, Tali Demetrious and Louis & Harvey Jones who performed Take That s Shine. Congratulations to them all for winning what was yet another successful Pop Mime. Our sincere thanks go to the three judges, also to Kirsty Shepard, Mandi Tyler, Pam Smart and Nikki Milne for helping the event to be a success. The last few weeks of term have been a busy time for the Friends of Kempsford School. Thank you to everyone who donated and attended the recent Jumble Sale which raised 370. The Friends were also involved in both the Easter Egg Hunt and Pop Mime, as well as the recent Bingo. These three events have raised in excess of 500. Thank you to everyone on the Friends Committee and for those who support the Friends by attending the events. Make a note in your diaries for the next school fundraiser which is the Family Fun Run on Saturday June 28 th.
