SKYWARD WEB: Manual At-Risk Student Identification Students are reported as At Risk of not graduating in PEIMS. The At Risk Code for this reporting is located in the TX/NCLB- Other PEIMS screen. This code will automatically populate when you enter the student s At Risk information in either of the two areas listed here. It is important to have the At Risk information so that determinations can be made from year to year as whether or not the student is still At Risk. DO NOT change the At Risk Code on the TX/NCLB Other PEIMS screen manually. There are now two ways to identify a student as At Risk. 1. At Risk Tab in the Student Profile 2. The At Risk Module 1. Using the At Risk Tab in the Student Profile From Student Management, go to Student>Student Profile Select the student you wish to Identify as At Risk. Select the At Risk tab. A. If the student has been identified as At Risk before you will see the Edit Button. If the student has not been previously identified as At Risk you will see the ADD button. Click which ever button you see to add or update the At Risk information. The top section of this screen has dates that will determine if a student is currently AT RISK for any reason. 1. DATE IDENTIFIED: will either show the date a student was previously identified or will default to today if this is a newly identified At Risk student. You can change this date to a previous date if needed. 2. DO NOT input a DISMISSAL DATE (unless the student NO LONGER QUALIFIES for any of the At Risk criteria). That includes dates in the future. Just leave this blank if you want the student to show as At Risk for PEIMS reporting. The bottom portion of the screen lists the 13 criteria that if apply indicate a student is At Risk. B. Check 1 or more of the At Risk Criteria selections based on the student s information. C. Make sure the Entry Date is appropriate for the selected criteria. D. Indicate some detail so that when this record is reviewed in the future, a determination can be made as to whether the student no longer meets the criteria. E. WARNING: DO NOT input a DISMISSAL DATE unless the student no longer qualifies for the criteria. Future dates will turn off the At Risk Indicator now, so do not input future dates. F. Continue to enter At Risk data as needed for the student. G. When you are finished, click SAVE. Page 1 of 5 HOW TO MARK AT RISK WEB 10/2014 TIMS/tsm

2. Using the At Risk Module: From Student Management>Student Services>At Risk>Entry by Student. You have two choices for your Browse View: Student Details or At Risk Criteria. The At Risk Criteria is my favorite. Use the drop down to select it. Then Select Only Active Students if that is all you would like to see.. Click Apply Filter. In this Browse you will see ALL students, whether they have been identified as At RISK or not. A. Type the student key (or at least the first 4 or 5 letters of the last name) in the Look Up at the bottom of the screen to move to the student you wish to review. Click the Enter Key on your keyboard. Page 2 of 5 HOW TO MARK AT RISK WEB 10/2014 TIMS/tsm

B. Once you see the student you wish to work with, click the next to their name. Then expand the Identification section. Easier: You can also highlight the student in the BROWSE and click either the ADD button (if the student has not been previously been identified) or the EDIT button to make changes. This will show you the screen as demonstrated in the Student Profile At Risk tab. C. If you see NO DETAILS AVAILABLE, then you can click the link Add Identification Detail a. If you see details, you can either edit the existing details or ADD new ones. D. The Entry Date will default to the current date. Update this date as needed. E. Select the appropriate At Risk Criteria TYPE: Use the drop down to select the appropriate At Risk Criteria for the student. WARNING!!! Do not put in a Dismissal Date on this screen unless the student is NO LONGER MEETS this AT RISK Criterion. That includes FUTURE DATES. F. Click your mouse into the Identification Details to enter a comment about the criteria. This comment should only contain formation that will help you or someone else know when and why they met the criteria. Example: failed Math in 2011 or DAEP in 2010. (Do not put in specific details of what caused the student to be sent to DAEP that should be found in the discipline record.) G. Click the SAVE button. Page 3 of 5 HOW TO MARK AT RISK WEB 10/2014 TIMS/tsm

3. No Longer At Risk?-- If a student no longer meets 1 or more criteria, you should enter a dismissal date for those criteria. If the student no longer meets ANY criteria, then you should enter a Dismissal Date on the At Risk record. A. Select the student from the Browse and click the Edit Button. B. If a student no longer meets an At Risk Criterion, edit that criteria and input a Dismissal Date. C. If there are NO other criteria that the student qualifies for, you must input a Dismissal Date on the At Risk Record at the top. 4. AT RISK REPORTS: This is one of many ways to print At Risk Reports. You can also use Student Data Mining. A. From Student Management go to Student Services/At-Risk/Reports B. Click on the At-Risk Student Report C. Click ADD to start a new template (or Edit if you already have a template) D. Name your template E. Set the screen as needed (shown here is recommended) F. Don t forget to expand the Student Range Selections and set the report ranges as needed. G. Click SAVE and PRINT. Your report will process in the print queue. Page 4 of 5 HOW TO MARK AT RISK WEB 10/2014 TIMS/tsm

NOTE: You will need to reset your template settings each school year as needed. Quick and Easy At Risk Reports: Go to Student Services/At Risk/Entry by Student Use the drop down menu to select the At-Risk Criteria view Use the drop down menu to select the various SHARED filters: Some of the filers listed here in PINK do not work as described. Please select the titles listed below. 1. Only Active At Risk STUDENTS clone-w/o Criteria This will show you students who will be reported as At Risk, but do not have current criteria supporting their status. These should be reviewed and updated. 2. Only Active Risk Active Students This report will show you all students who are active and currently identified as At Risk. 3. Dismissed At Risk Active Students This will show you who are active students that were previously indicated as At Risk, but have been dismissed. NOTE: future dismissal dates TURN OFF the At Risk indicator for PEIMS. Any future dates should be removed. After you have selected the appropriate filter, just click the Excel button and then Export to send the information to a spreadsheet. Page 5 of 5 HOW TO MARK AT RISK WEB 10/2014 TIMS/tsm
