Day 2: Tuesday 18 June 2019 Research & Policy Recommendations 09:00-09:30 09:30-14:30 Overview of the simulation exercise Research and Policy Recommendations Attendees work in groups to conduct research, analyse data and compile policy recommendations for the assigned country using guidelines and templates provided by the organisers. Groups are expected to deliver a report and a presentation with the research findings. The deliverables will be presented in the afternoon in front of a panel of guest speakers simulating the government of the assigned country approving policies for implementation. 14:30-15:00 Introduction of guest speakers 15:00-16:45 Group presentations. Guest speakers provide feedback to each group on the relevance and applicability of their policy recommendations and on how likely they are to be approved for implementation 16:45-17:00 Break Recommendations of guest speakers on how to start a career in 17:00-18:00 international development followed by Q&A
Day 3: Wednesday 19 June 2019 Project Management 09:00-09:30 Overview of the simulation exercise Project Management 09:30-14:30 Relying on the findings from the exercise Research and Policy Recommendations (Day 2), attendees work in groups to design a project document for implementing the suggested policy recommendations in the assigned country using guidelines and templates provided by the organisers. Groups are expected to deliver a written proposal and a presentation with the project details. The deliverables will be presented in the afternoon in front of a panel of guest speakers simulating funding authorities approving projects for financing 14:30-15:00 Introduction of guest speakers 15:00-16:45 Group presentations. Guest speakers provide feedback to each group on the feasibility of proposed projects and on how likely they are to be approved for funding 16:45-17:00 Break Recommendations of guest speakers on how to start a career in 17:00-18:00 international development followed by Q&A
Day 4: Thursday 20 June 2019 Campaign & Outreach 09:00-09:30 Overview of the simulation exercise Campaign & Outreach 09:30-14:30 Relying on the findings from the exercise Project Management (Day 3), attendees work in groups to create communications and outreach strategy for their proposed projects using guidelines and templates provided by the organisers. Groups are expected to deliver a strategy document and a presentation with the strategy details. The deliverables will be presented in the afternoon in front of a panel of guest speakers simulating senior officials of the UN Strategic Communications Division approving strategies for implementation 14:30-15:00 Introduction of guest speakers Group presentations. Guest speakers provide feedback to each group on the effectiveness and relevance of the suggested 15:00-16:45 communication activities and on how likely they are to be approved for implementation 16:45-17:00 Break Recommendations of guest speakers on how to start a career in 17:00-18:00 international development followed by Q&A
Day 5: Friday 21 June 2019 Applications 10:00-12:00 Presentation with recommendations on creating application documents (CVs and cover letters) for positions in international organisations 12:00-13:00 Break 13:00-17:00 Attendees adjust their application documents (CVs, cover letters) to the recommendations given at the morning presentation 13:00-17:00 Individual consultation sessions (20 minutes) with guest speakers 13:30-14:30 and 15:00-16:00 Presentation introducing the UN recruitment system Inspira. The session will be held twice during the day (with exactly the same content) enabling all attendees to listen to the presentation 16:00-17:00 Closing remarks and awards ceremony 18:00-20:00 Closing reception
