Arlington Science Focus PTA and Baroody Camps Presents: WINTER 2018 After-School Enrichment Programs Welcome all Science Focus students to our fun enrichment session at Arlington Science Focus School! This Fall, the PTA has partnered with Baroody Camps, Inc. (www.baroodycamps.com) to provide a limited selection of school enrichment classes for students across all grade levels. In Northern Virginia, Baroody Camps has been providing summer camps since 2003 and after-school enrichment classes since 2014. Baroody Cmaps, Inc. will coordinate and administer all classes in partnership with the ASFS PTA. They will also provide a dedicated on-site Enrichment Coordinator, who will oversee all enrichment activities. This will provide the much-needed oversight to our otherwise well-rounded enrichment program. Please read the following pages of the catalog carefully for important dates, policies and procedures, & program descriptions. Additional copies of the registration catalog can be found at http://baroodycamps.com/after-school/. Please contact Beth Foreman (Baroody Camps) BaroodyCampsInfo@gmail.com with questions or concerns. Winter Session Program Schedule The winter program will run for eight (8) weeks on Mondays & Fridays and seven (7) weeks on Wednesdays, beginning on January 8th & ending on March 16th. Please note: Wednesday classes begin one week after all other programs. All classes will be held at Arlington Science Focus School on Mondays, Wednesday & Fridays. o All after-school classes will be held from 3:45pm-5:00pm. The Baroody Camps will notify parents in case of changes to the schedule. Registration Process Registration period will begin on Sunday, December 17th at 10:00am & end on Saturday, December 23rd at 9:00 pm. You must complete one (1) registration form per student (online or paper form). You may register online by clicking here or by visiting www.baroodycamps.com OR by completing the attached registration form. All completed paper registration forms should be placed in the box in the Arlington Science Focus office by the end of the school day on Thursday, December 21st. Class Placement A LOTTERY SYSTEM will be used if there is more demand for a class than there is space available. If your child is placed in one or more classes or waitlisted, a letter will be e-mailed to you by December 27th (or we will call you if you do not have an e-mail address). This acceptance letter will indicate the payment(s) required to secure your child s placement in the related class(es). Payment Payment for all classes must be received by Sunday, December 31st. If payment is not received by this date, your child may be removed from the class. An email will be sent for payment and for removal if necessary. Payments may be made online or by check made payable to Baroody Camps, Inc. Please place your check (in the PTA box in the Arlington Science Focus office). Baroody Camps is willing to discuss payment options for those who qualify for Scholarship. Class Withdrawals and Refunds During the registration period (Dec. 17 th to Dec. 23 rd ), you may withdraw your registration request for any reason. To request a withdrawal and/or a refund (if applicable), you must contact Beth Foreman, Director of Operations at Baroody Camps (BaroodyCampsInfo@gmail.com). After December 23 rd, Baroody Camps cannot guarantee a full refund for any class(es). All refunds will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis & must be discussed with Baroody Camps directly. The Arlington Science Focus PTA is NOT responsible for issuing credits/cancellations for any of the classes.

Dismissal It is imperative that you indicate the dismissal arrangements for your child on the registration form. Please note that it is not permissible to be late for pick-up. If you are late more than two times, your child will no longer be able to participate in the program. Please be aware that school personnel will not be available at this time to supervise your child. Parent Pick-Up: Parents/caregivers must pick up children promptly at their child s Enrichment program classroom location. This will be given to parents in the acceptance emails. Parents/caregivers must sign their child out with their program instructor. Extended Day Care: Students attending Extended Day Care after school will be escorted to the appropriate locations following the class. Approved Walkers: Students will be released to leave on their own following class. Changes to dismissal: Baroody Camps will provide each Arlington Science Focus teacher and each after-school programs Instructor with a list of children participating in the various after-school programs along with their dismissal instructions. You are responsible for notifying the Director of Operations (Beth Foreman) of any changes to your child s regular dismissal process from his/her after-school program. On-Site Programs Coordinator To help manage children participating in the before and after-school programs, Baroody Camps will provide an On-Site Programs Coordinator. S/he is responsible for distributing & collecting attendance sheets, assisting program staff with behavior issues, assisting with dismissal, resolving any issues that may arise and quality control during programs. Additionally, the On-Site Coordinator is Medication Administration Trained & CPR/First Aid Certified. Standards of Behavior We want to ensure that all students participating in the after-school enrichment programs enjoy the experience. In order for this to happen, it is expected that all students will conform to regular Arlington Science Focus classroom and school rules and regulations while attending a program. The providers are all experienced Instructors and will use accepted classroom management techniques to allow misbehaving children to adjust. If a child continues to have difficulties, he or she will be removed from the class and be placed with the On-Site Programs Coordinator who will decide if and when to return the child to class that day. The On-Site Programs Coordinator will also inform the parents about the situation. If a child is removed from a class a second time, that child will be withdrawn from that class for the remainder of the session. The School will be informed of this decision. No partial refunds will be given in these situations. We look to all parents to support our class providers so that all children can enjoy the after-school classes. Snacks/Allergies Snacks will NOT be provided by instructors. Snacks will be permitted at the start of programs each day ONLY. Parents who would like their child to have a snack before programs are REQUIRED to provide a NUT-FREE snack. Program providers will be given an allergy list of students participating in their class. Snacks will be monitored by the On-Site Coordinator and the Program Instructors in their classrooms with serious allergy students monitored. If your child has a medical condition and/or allergy, serious or not, a Medical Condition/Allergy Waiver must be completed before the start of programs. *Note: After-School Enrichment Programs do not have access to the health office, however, our On-Site Coordinators are trained to store and administer medication safely.
