This course has been customcreated to provide a pathway from earlier studies in accounting such as the FNS40611 Certificate IV in Accounting and the FNS40211 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping. The diploma has been tailored to include preselected elective units that meet current industry demands and will provide you with a broad spectrum of skills and knowledge within the accounting field of the financial services industry. Providing a comprehensive knowledge-base, this diploma would suit you if you are looking to find employment as an accountant, accounts administrator or as an employee in an accounts or finance department. This qualification includes many of the requirements set out by The Tax Practitioners Board for registering as a Business Activity Statements agent and partially meets the minimum educational requirements for providing tax agent services. It would suit you if you are currently employed in any financial role or an administration role in accounts and are seeking to formalise your skills or expand your career opportunities. OpenSpace is Open Colleges online campus. Pathway into the qualification There is a direct pathway into this course from the FNS40611 Certificate IV in Accounting and the FNS40211 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping. Students must complete the prerequisite units before commencing the core and elective units at diploma level. What is the duration of the course? The maximum duration for the course is 24 months. To complete the course in this timeframe, we recommend that you study a minimum of 10 or 11 hours per week. This is a guide only the time taken to complete your course will depend on your level of skill and knowledge.

Diploma of Accounting FNS50210 What are the entry requirements for the course? Education Requirements You will need to have completed Year 12, or equivalent. Equivalency can be demonstrated by one of the following: a qualification at Certificate III level or higher, or 2 years of industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication. Minimum Age Requirements You will need to be at least 18 years old. English Language Requirements This course requires you to read comprehensive learner workbooks, undertake a range of written assessments and engage in online discussion forums. Furthermore, the course relies on the extensive use of written communication. As such, entry to the course requires English proficiency to Year 12 level, or equivalent (see Education Requirements for equivalency) or completion of an approved English language test (see website for details). Computing Requirements You will need to have basic computing skills to undertake this course. This includes the ability to: > use the computer, mouse and keyboard with proficiency in skills required to integrate software packages, save files and search the internet > attach and use peripheral devices such as a scanner, digital camera, media storage (for example, a flash drive for design storage) > save a compressed file (.zip) > save a PDF File. Minimum specifications for your computer are: > Microsoft Office 2007 or higher recommended > Broadband internet connection > 2GB of Ram > CD-ROM or DVD drive > Adobe Reader X or equivalent. MYOB 19.7 textbook and accompanying CD is included with this course to assist with the completion of some units. Audio-visual requirements You will need access to a digital video recording device and/or a digital camera and associated software to save and upload video and image files to OpenSpace. Many mobile phones and smartphones include this technology. What support services are available? During your studies with Open Colleges, you will have access to a comprehensive range of support services. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a nationally recognised qualification FNS50210 Diploma of Accounting awarded by Open Colleges Pty Ltd (Provider Number 90796). Open Colleges is a Registered Training Organisation. FNS50210 Diploma of Accounting has been superseded by FNS50215 Diploma of Accounting on the 25th March 2015. Open Colleges will transition to the new qualification in the near future. Legislation Upon successful completion of this course, you may be eligible to apply as a registered tax agent. A tax agent is a person or entity registered under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 to provide a tax agent service. What funding support options exist?
