All incoming Math & Science magnet students must take a math placement test to determine the appropriate tier pathway. All courses listed in the pathways are required to earn the magnet diploma. Additional magnet details are provided on the following pages. Option 1: DUAL ENROLLMENT- Calculus 1 (fall) and Calculus 2 Option 2: AP Calculus AB Option 3: AP Calculus BC AP Stat either year (magnet elective credit) Biology Honors Chemistry Honors 1. AP Physics 1 Science Other Participate in at least two (2) math or science competitions AP Biology AP Chemistry AP Environmental Science AP Physics 2 AP Physics C

Option 3: AP Calculus BC Option 2: AP Calculus BC (required for advanced calculus DUAL ENROLLMENT GA Tech 12 th grade) AP Stat either year (magnet elective credit) Biology Honors Chemistry Honors 1. AP Physics 1 Science Other Participate in at least two (2) math or science competitions AP Biology AP Chemistry AP Environmental Science AP Physics 2 AP Physics C *Students entering the magnet with only Algebra I or Honors Algebra and desire to be in Tier 2 must successfully complete Geometry A over the summer prior to 9 th grade year.

Math & Science Magnet Requirements: All Freshmen must take a math placement test to determine the appropriate tier. Students successfully complete Tier I or Tier II In the spring semester of Accelerated Geometry, students must apply and enroll in Move on When Ready to receive at least two dual-enrolled college math credits the following school year. AP Statistics is required junior or senior year. AP Physics is required junior year. Students must take a minimum of two (2) AP science courses (AP Physics counts as one). Students must participate in at least 2 math or science competitions. Algebra 1: Freshmen who completed on level pre-algebra in 8 th grade Accelerated Algebra 1 (Alg 1 & Geometry A): Freshmen who made a 3 or 4 on EOG and were in accelerated/honors math in 8 th grade Geometry: Freshmen or Sophomores who completed on level Algebra 1 the previous year Accelerated Geometry (Geometry B & Alg 2): Freshmen who successfully completed Algebra 1 course and EOC in the 8 th grade Sophomores who successfully completed Accelerate Algebra 1 freshman year Algebra 2: Juniors who completed on level Geometry sophomore year Pre-calculus: Sophomores who completed Accelerated Geometry below 80 Juniors who completed Algebra 2 Accelerated Pre-calculus: Freshmen who successfully completed Accelerated Algebra 1 AND Accelerated Geometry with EOCs prior to high school Sophomores who successfully completed Accelerated Geometry Freshman year Juniors who successfully completed Accelerated Geometry during sophomore year North Springs Math Course Offerings AP Statistics: Juniors and seniors who need the course as an elective for magnet, and are recommended by their previous teacher Seniors who need an additional math class for graduation Calculus: Seniors who completed Pre-calculus or Accelerated Precalculus and do not want to take AP math their senior year AP Calculus AB: Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who completed Accelerated Pre-calculus the previous year AP Calculus BC: Juniors and Seniors who has taken AP Calculus AB DUAL ENROLLMENT Georgia Tech Advanced Calculus (College Credit): Seniors who completed Calculus BC their junior year and scored 4 or 5 on AP exam AMDM (Advanced Mathematical Decision Making): Seniors who have completed Algebra 2 Note: Not recommended for those planning to attend college College Readiness Math Seniors who scored less than an 80 in Algebra 2 and pursue a non-stem degree in college

Biology: All incoming Freshmen Honors Biology: Freshmen who made a 3 or 4 on the physical science EOC in the 8 th grade North Springs Science Course Offerings Honors Anatomy: Juniors and Seniors who need the course as an elective for magnet, and are recommended by their previous teacher Forensics: Juniors or Seniors who need a 4 th year science Chemistry: Sophomore who completed Biology freshmen year with a grade 80 or above Honors Chemistry Sophomores who completed and were successful in Biology or Honors Biology (with an 85) freshman year Physics: Juniors who completed on level Chemistry or Environmental Science sophomore year AP Biology AP Chemistry AP Environmental Science: Juniors or Seniors who need an elective course and are recommended by their previous teacher AP Physics 2: Junior or Seniors who successfully completed AP Physics 1 and are recommended by their previous teacher AP Physics C: Seniors who successfully completed AP Physics 2 and are recommended by their previous teacher AP Physics: Juniors who completed and were successful in Honors Chemistry (with an 85) sophomore year. Environmental Science: Sophomores who successfully completed Biology with 79 or below Seniors who successfully completed Physics as an elective
