The Canadian Association for Play Therapy APPLICATION PROCESS The intended use of this application form is for those applying to receive CAPT credits toward CAPT Foundation Play Therapy Training requirements. The completed application material will allow the admission committee to determine the professional suitability of the applicant for entrance into these training days. Material Submitted No material submitted will be returned. A student membership file will be opened. If you fail to renew your membership, files will be shredded after one year. Students are encouraged to retain a copy of this application and all supporting documentation for their records as this material will be needed again should the decision be made to formally apply for CAPT Play Therapy Certification. REQUIREMENT FOR APPLICATION TO THE PROGRAM Membership If not already a member, a CAPT Membership application and fees must be submitted on-line at www.canadianplaytherapy.com under Apply for Membership prior to taking any CAPT Foundation Play Therapy Training days. Students must be members in good standing with CAPT to take the training days for purposes of gaining Play Therapy Foundation Training credits *. Verification of membership will be conducted prior to approving acceptance to the training days. *Individuals attending individual workshops for Continuing Education purposes only are not required to be members of CAPT and will pay the non-member rate. Those enrolled to take any of the CAPT Play Therapy Foundation Training days for the purposes of being Certified as a Play Therapist or gaining Play Therapy Supervision toward Certification as a Play Therapist, MUST BE MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING with CAPT PRACTICE OF PLAY THERAPY Play Therapy is the practice of psychotherapy in most provinces in Canada. It is the responsibility of the student to do their own research of their provincial regulations and standards about the act of psychotherapy and determine if you are legally able to practice psychotherapy with your current education and experience. LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION Applicants are asked to obtain two letters of recommendation. These letters should be completed by people who are in the position to comment on your skills and experience relevant to human services and your potential as a play therapist. Blank reference forms have been provided on the website for the applicant to download, forward and have completed by a suitable referee. Page 1 of 6
These reference letters should be returned to the applicant in sealed envelopes, with signatures across the seal, and included within the completed application package.
