The Institute (DMI) originated from what was known as Dar es Salaam Maritime Training Unit (DMTU) which was established on the 3rd July 1978 as a training wing of Tanzania Coastal Shipping Line (TACOSHILI) to fulfill the need of well-trained seafarers. DMI is the Centre of Excellence in Maritime Education and Training in the East African region. The Centre has qualified personnel and provides quality education which suits market needs in the aspect of being employed and self-employment in maritime industry. DMI offers programmes accredited by NACTE (NTA Level 4-8), SUMATRA (Certificate of Competency-CoC), CILT (Logistics & Transport) and ABMA (Shipping and Logistics). 1.01 POSITION: Tutorial Assistant - Marine Engineering (2 Posts). 1.01.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES i) To teach up to NTA level 6. ii) To assist in conducting tutorial and practical exercises for students under close supervision. iii) To prepare learning resources for tutorial exercise.

It is established by the Institute of
Accountancy Act No.1 of 1990 and is located at Njiro Hill, seven kilometres Southern- East of Arusha City. The Institute has secured employment permit from the President s Office Public Service Management and Good Governance vide letter Ref. Proven applicable working experience preferably in teaching research/consultancy will be added advantage. 2.1.4 RENUMERATION 2.2 POSITION: ASSISTANT LECTURER ECONOMICS (MONETARY AND INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS) (1 POST) 2.2.2 REPORTS TO: MAIN CAMPUS ARUSHA 2.2.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

2.8.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES i) Teach up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) ii) Assist in conducting tutorial and practical exercises for students under close supervision iii) Prepare learning resources for tutorial exercises iv) Assist in conducting research under close supervision v) Carry out consultancy and community services under close supervision. 2.8.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution with GPA of 3.8 or above, who is registered or eligible for registration by NACTE s a technical teacher. 2.8.4 RENUMERATION 2.9 POSITION: LIBRARIAN II -(1 POST) 2.9.1 REPORTS TO: LIBRARY SERVICE MANAGER MAIN CAMPUS 2.9.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES i) To Assist in maintaining public and staff catalogues ii) To assist in maintaining records of library materials loaned to users iii) To shelf books, periodicals, journals and other library materials iv) To maintain user profile v) To collect information needs or udders vi) To assist in identifying of library materials to be ordered vii) To guide readers to find information 2.9.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor Degree in Library Studies or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution. 2.9.4 RENUMERATION 2.10 POSITION: LIBRARY ASSISTANT II -(1 POST) 2.10.1 REPORTS TO: CAMPUS MANAGER BABATI
2.10.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES i) To display new books and other reading materials ii) To upkeep back sets or newspapers and journals iii) To prepare cuttings from newspapers of relevance to the Institute iv) To handle simple enquiries from readers v) To undertake bibliographical searching 2.10.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Certificate in Library Studies (NTA LEVEL 5) from a recognized University/Institution. Holding Diploma in Library Studies will be added advantage. 2.10.4 RENUMERATION 3.0 TANZANIA FOOD AND DRUGS AUTHORITY (TFDA) Tanzania Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA) is an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children which is responsible for the regulation of quality, safety and effectiveness of food, medicines, cosmetics and medical devices for the purpose of protecting and promoting public health. TFDA is established under Section 4(1) of the Tanzania Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Cap.219. 3.1 POSITION: DRUG REGISTRATION OFFICERS- (2 POSTS) 3.1.1 REPORTS TO: TFDA HEAD QUARTER 3.1.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES i) To review and evaluate documentation of product applied for registration ii) To evaluate generic medicines, cosmetics, medical devices, in Vitro Diagnostics and promotional materials applied for registration iii) To prepare and submit evaluation and progress reports to head of section iv) To update the relevant product registration database v) To attend and respond to customer enquiries related to product registration vi) To perform any other duties related to the above as may be assigned by superiors. 3.1.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor of Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Bachelor in Biomedical
Engineering or related field from a recognized institution with at least three (3) years experience 3.1.4 RENUMERATION According to TFDA scale 3.2 POSITION: DRUG INSPECTOR- (3 POSTS) 3.2.1 REPORTS TO: EASTERN ZONE 3.2.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES i) To conduct inspections according to the established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ii) To prepare and submit inspection reports according to SOPs iii) Process applications for registration of premises, licenses, import and export permits of drugs, cosmetics and medical devices. iv) Supervise destruction of unfit drugs and cosmetic products v) To prepare status reports on license, permit, import and export of drugs, cosmetics and medical devices vi) Develop and maintain good relations with customers vii) To perform any other duties relevant to the above that they may be assigned by superiors. 3.2.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor of Pharmacy, Veterinary medicines or equivalent qualifications in the related field from a recognized institution with at least three (3) years experience. 3.2.4 RENUMERATION According to TFDA scale 3.3 POSITION: ASSISTANT DRUGS INSPECTOR (2 POSTS) 3.3.1 REPORTS TO: EASTERN ZONE 3.3.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES i) Conduct general inspection at port of entry ii) To screen products iii) To conduct and prepare inspection reports iv) To check and verify import/export license and permit applications v) To prepare reports
vi) To perform an y other duties relevant to the above that they may be assigned by superiors 3.3.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Holder of Diploma in pharmaceutical science or related field from recognized institution. 3.3.4 RENUMERATION According to TFDA scale 3.4 POSITION: LABORATORY ANALYST-(1 POST) 3.4.1 REPORTS TO: LAKE ZONE (MWANZA) 3.4.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES i) To conduct analysis of product samples ii) To prepare and submit analytical results report iii) To update the relevant laboratory database iv) To train and give guidance to subordinates v) To perform any other duties related to the above that they may be assigned by superiors 3.4.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Holder of BSc, its equivalent in Pharmacy, Food Sciences, Food Technology, Microbiology, Herbal Medicine, Botany, Chemistry Biotechnology or related field from recognized institution. 3.4.4 RENUMERATION According to TFDA scale 3.5 POSITION: TECHNICIAN- (1 POST) 3.5.1 REPORTS TO: HEAD QUARTER- DAR ES SALAAM 3.5.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES i) To allocate MIS resources to users ii) To monitor use of MIS resources iii) To update the relevant laboratory database iv) To train and give guidance to subordinates v) To perform any other duties related to the above that they may be assigned
