The Hertfordshire & Essex High School and Science College EXAM SUCCESSES and other statistical information 2017/2018
Rising to the Challenge We are living in exciting times. There are so many opportunities and yet so much competition that it is critical for talented young women to embrace the age of change. At Herts & Essex we have high expectations of all students and we encourage every one of them to embody the high aspirations explicit in our motto Sic itur ad astra Reach for the stars. Every year since 2014 Herts & Essex has been named as one of the top nonselective schools in the country for our students attainment and progress (valueadded) scores. The DfE describes the school as achieving significantly above average progress in GCSEs. A Level results in the last five years have brought consistently outstanding (ALPS) progress/value-added scores, with very high proportions of entries resulting in grades A* - B. Indeed 25% of all Year 13 students achieved 3 A*/A grades this August. Prospective students and their parents will be interested to understand the passion and the drive which led the school to its current position as one of the highest achieving schools both locally and nationally. We believe that we do this through the recruitment of first rate, specialist teachers; through a focus on analysing data to give us detailed information about the progress of each individual student; by providing a variety of targeted additional support and intervention where necessary; and ensuring that in everything we do we deliver Excellence for All our mission statement. This booklet provides you with information about our exam successes this summer. Almost without exception, our Year 13 students were able to gain entrance to their first choice universities; with many securing places at Russell Group universities, including a good number studying the prestigious courses. This is what we can offer Herts & Essex students: seven years of outstanding education, with specialised and supported programmes based on a broad and balanced curriculum which we know delivers the best results for students.
