The college is in a rural area of France (Angoulême is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city of 40,000 but many students come from the surrounding rural areas of Charente), where stereotypes and racism against minority groups can be a problem. Given the background of the recent events happening in France, we have an important role to play in order to prevent any kind of radicalization and to promote non-discrimination through education. The primary purpose of education is not only to develop knowledge and job related competences but also to help young people to become active, responsible, open-minded members of a diverse society of tomorrow. Our EVS project HOPE 2018-2019 will open up many opportunities to encourage intercultural exchange, travel for study and volunteering for the students at CIFOP and EMCA. For our four European volunteers, it will offer a great opportunity to build language, cultural, social and organisational competences and to participate in the big family of CIFOP and EMCA. Practical Information An apartment on the campus with 3 bedrooms and shared kitchen and living space will be provided for the four EVS volunteers, with the possibility to have a fourth room with its own bathroom next door. A bus pass for travel around Angoulême is provided. A food allowance of 250 per month Pocket money of approximately 120 euros per month. Volunteers will take holidays at the same time as CIFOP holidays: Christmas, February, Easter and mid-july. Before arrival You will work with the Sending Organisation to set up insurance, Youthpass, online language tuition etc. If needed they will help with your travel arrangements. You will have a Skype meeting with a representative of the Coordinating Organisation, TERA Maison de l Europe de la Charente. Travel Angoulême is easy to travel to by train or bus. Bordeaux is the nearest major airport. A travel grant of up to 275 is provided to cover one return journey. On arrival You will be picked up at Angoulême train station by a representative of the Hosting Organisation (Campus CIFOP / EMCA). You will spend a week familiarising yourself with the campus and the schools, as well as making practical arrangements with the Coordinating Organisation, such as opening a bank account. You will have an introduction to all the resources that are available to you in Angoulême, which is a lively city. Language Support The EVS volunteers will have the opportunity to study French at the Campus CIFOP language school, and to obtain recognized qualifications in French language such as BULATS or DALF. 5 chemin de Halage, 16000 ANGOULÊME +33(0)5.45.39.85.67 tera.international.mde@gmail.com 1/6
