Description of the courses 2015 Standard From discovering French to mastering the language Morning classes from Monday to Friday. 20 group lessons of 45 minutes each = 15 hours of ly classes. The objective of this course is to provide you with the vocabulary and the grammar tools that are essential to communicate in French through focusing on the five aspects that are necessary to learn a language: Oral comprehension, oral expression, oral interaction, written comprehension and written expression. Little by little, you will be able to talk about yourself, your everyday life and your environment, but also about your past experiences, your projects and your wishes, and then to express your feelings, your doubts and your opinion on different topics. You will be able to understand the people you speak with and to use your grammar and vocabulary knowledge in practical situations. To reach these objectives our teachers use a wide range of teaching materials, for example telling you about French cultural and social idiosyncrasies or current affairs. For each level LSF has defined a programme that is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages* to help you master the most important notions, to understand French and to be understood in French. The detail of these programmes is available at the school. (* The CECR defines methods of learning, teaching and assessing languages and provides a foreign language proficiency scale on 6 levels). Intensive 20+6 Increase your oral knowledge In addition to the Standard course, 6 group lessons are organised on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. 26 group lessons of 45 minutes = 19h30 of ly classes. This course is based on comprehension, expression and oral interaction. The objective is to give you the opportunity to speak more while using the language tools you have acquired. To reach this objective you will deal with a different topic each and talk, discuss and debate. This class does not deal with any aspect of grammar.

Intensive 20+10 Broaden your knowledge in a different way In addition to the Intensive 20+6 course, 4 additional group lessons are organised on Wednesday afternoon. 30 group lessons of 45 minutes = 22h30 of ly classes. The objective of this course is to give you the opportunity to speak more while learning in a different way. This course is developed as a workshop: for example, you might do drama, make a video, take some photos, write a poem, analyse some artwork or an exhibition, discover French comics and literature, meet some French craftsmen and artists, take part in a writing workshop or even sing in French. Combined 20+5 In addition to the Standard course, 5 one-to-one lessons are organised in the afternoons. 20 group lessons of 45 minutes = 15h, 5 one-to-one lessons of 45 minutes = 3h45, for a total of 18h45 of ly classes. With this option you can work on some specific topics and focus on your particular needs (vocabulary, grammar or phonetics ). The course is tailored to your own needs. Your teacher will help you, advise you and correct you in a totally personalised way. Before starting your course, you will fill in a document to inform us about your expectations and specific needs. Combined 20+10 In addition to the Standard course, 10 one-to-one lessons are organised in the afternoons. 20 group lessons of 45 minutes = 15h, 10 one-to-one lessons of 45 minutes = 7h30, for a total of 22h30 of ly classes. With this option you can work on some specific aspects and focus on your particular needs (vocabulary, grammar or phonetics ). The course is tailored to your own needs. Your teacher will help you, advise you and correct you in a totally personalised way. This course option is particularly adapted to students who want to learn French for professional purposes (medical French, French for hotel and catering and the tourist industry, Business French, French for negotiations, French for interviews ). Before starting your course, you will fill in a document to inform us about your expectations and specific needs.

DELF/DALF Exam Preparation In addition to the Standard course, 6 lessons will be organised for you on two afternoons. These lessons are the best way for you to prepare your DELF/DALF exams, the only official and international qualification certifying your level of French. The exam takes place at the University of Montpellier on specific dates. The lessons focus on repetition and you will be given mock exams in the different parts of the exam. The success rate of candidates prepared for these exams by LSF is almost 100%. Long-term Stay (12 or 24 ) These Standard or Intensive long-term programmes are ideal for those people who wish to immerse themselves in France for several months with the goal of achieving significant progress and mastering the French language better. Your progress will be evaluated on a regular basis by tests provided by the Common European Framework for Languages. Notes on the organisation of group courses The minimum number of people in a group lesson is 3 and the maximum number is 10. When, in certain out-of-season, the number of people for a particular level is 1 or 2, LSF organises one-to-one lessons (1-1) or semi-individual lessons (1-2). In this case the number of lessons is reduced by half (a of 20 group lessons becomes a of 10 one-to-one or semi-individual lessons). Lessons for complete beginners are organised on one Monday per month (see the 2015 pricelist for exact dates). If beginners arrive on other dates, LSF reserves the right to place the student in the lowest level group that. NOTE: 1 lesson = 45 minutes.
