Item No. 1.1.0 To confirm of the minutes of the 13 th meeting of the Senate held on 3 rd April & continued on 2 th April 2008 The minutes of the 13 th meeting of the Senate held on 3 rd April and continued on 2 th April 2008 placed at Annexure-A were sent to all the members of the Senate for their comments. No comments have been received from any member of the Senate. The minutes may, therefore, be taken as confirmed. Item No. 1.2.0 To note the action taken on the decisions made in the 13 th meeting of the Senate of the Institute held on 3 rd April & continued on 2 th April 2008. The minutes were confirmed Confirmed. 2. 13-2.0 ACTION TAKEN ON DECISIONS MADE IN PREVIOUS MEETING Regarding action taken on points in 11 th meeting of Senate, 11-3.8 relating to approval of institute elective course IE-210, was approved. Action taken regarding points no. 12-1.0, 12-2.0 were noted. Regarding point 12-3.2 relating to the revision of scholarship for Ph.D., it is to be implemented with immediate effect. Regarding point 12-3., Department of Chemical Engg. will start laboratory on BIOTECHNOLOGY. 13.3.0 ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION 13-3.1 To consider the common centralized M. Tech. admissions of all NITs. 13-3.2 To consider the detailed scheme and syllabus of new M. Tech. programme in following Departments: Computer Engineering-M. Tech.in Computer Engg., M. Tech in Information Security Electronics & Communication Engg. - M. Tech. in Embedded Systems. M. Tech. in Wireless Communications System Design and Management Architecture -M Arch. in Urban Planning 13-3.3 To consider the scheme & syllabus of M. Tech. Industrial Metallurgy. Action taken on other points 12-.0, 12-.0 were noted The Chairman Senate apprised the house of the proposal discussed in NIT Directors meeting for centralized counseling for PG admissions. The following committee was constituted for working out the details- (i) Prof. D. K. Jain, Convener, (ii) Dr. Harpal Tiwari, Reader, Elect. Engg. and (iii) Dr. Mahendra Choudhary, Reader, Civil Engg. Aforesaid new M. Tech. programmes has already been approved in principle by BoG of MNIT Jaipur. Two of the programmes- M. Tech. (Computer Engineering) and M. Planning (Urban Planning) will start from session 2008-09, July 2008 onwards. The detailed scheme and syllabus of these programmes be updated according to Senate guidelines for separate Laboratories in each of the first two semesters. For remaining two M. Tech. programmes- Embedded Systems and Wireless Communications System Design & Management, the Department of Electronics & Comm. Engg., will adapt the contents of the proposed specialization and emphasize the same into their existing M. Tech. programmes- VLSI Design & Electronics & Comm. Engg., respectively. All other programmes to be revised according to incorporate a Laboratories course in each of the first two semesters. The detailed syllabus & scheme of the programme was approved. This programme will start from July 2008 from session 2008-09 1 NIT Directors deferred the proposal for centralized counselling Included as guideline for preparing new PG curriculum with modification that the new PG programme will be M. Tech. in Metallurgical & Materials

To consider the recommendations of sub-committee of senate constituted in 12 th meeting of the Senate regarding scholarship enhancement proposal for PG/ Ph.D. assistantship/ fellowship as per MHRD recommendations 13-3. To consider the minutes of 12 th meeting of PG Board The proposal for enhancement of fellowship/assistantship for Ph.D. programme has already been approved and is to be implemented with immediate effect. While for M. Tech. scholarships, MHRD is already considering the issue and reply is awaited Engg. for Ph.D. from July 08. Also, as MHRD approval has come, being implemented for M. Tech. also. The minutes were approved. -- 13-.0 ANY OTHER ITEMS WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE CHAIR 13-.1 To consider B. Sc. as eligibility for MBA admission The request of one of the aspirant received through post for consideration as above, was not approved 13-.2 Attendance requirement for final The case of Mr. Ravindra Kumar Daila, Semester B. Two committee were formed. One committee will look after the seat-matrix allocation- (i) Dean Academic Affairs, Convener (ii) Centre coordinator, AIEEE (iii) OC (PG) (iv) OC(UG). The other committee will look-after the work of infrastructure development- (i) Dean, Student Affairs, Convener (ii) Prof. Y. P. Mathur (iii) Prof. A. K. Bhargava (iii) Prof. A. P. S. Rathore (iv) Prof. S. K. Sharma (v) Ms. Rina Surana (vi) One lady warden. The committee will hold regular meetings and will execute their decisions to prepare for additional intake. There is shortage of Civil Engineering graduates in the country the Department of Civil Engineering at MNIT Jaipur has capacity to have increased number of B. Tech. students. The senate, therefore, resolved to enhance students intake in B. Tech. Civil Engineering from 60 to 90. Reservation of SC, ST and OBC will be as applicable as per norms The decisions of Govt. of India and of Hon ble Supreme Court of India will be followed. According to decisions, the students from creamy layer of OBC, will not be considered for admissions against the seats reserved for OBC category Decision had been taken at para 13A-1.1. The senate approved the concept of dual degree programme. Stevens Institute of Technology USA, has proposed a four plus one years programme, in which a student of MNIT Jaipur can pursue one year PG programme at Stevens Institute of Technology USA immediately after completing B.Tech./B. Noble of University of Greenwich, UK will be visiting MNIT Jaipur on 27 th & 28 th May 2008, and a similar MoU relating to research collaboration and student and faculty exchange will be on the anvil Senate in principle agreed to the proposal. Departmental faculty group may chalk out the programme for a particular programme The guidelines for curriculum design workshops were approved. The departments were requested to conduct detailed curriculum workshop on these guidelines. The scheduled weeks for all the departments was identified Not approved The workshop will be conducted by Academic Affairs section. Regarding medical counselors for students, it was proposed that one specialist Psychiatrist may be invited once a week for two hours in the evening The academic calendar for I (Odd) Semester 2008-09 has already been sent to departments for inviting comments. The Senate authorized Chairman to approve the same after considering suggestions received from the departments Prof. Rohit Goyal, Head Civil Engg. will be coordinator for institute central-time-table, Sh. Dinesh Goplani, Lecturer in Computer Science & Engg. will be co-coordinator The department will constitute a committee for each of the course/subject. The respective committee will then consider the feedback forms The departments agreed to send the lists of courses to be floated in summer semester by 30 th April 2008 It was agreed that each departments will form a Department Advisory Committee (DAC) inviting persons from industry and academia It was agreed that adjunct faculty may be given to departments. It was discussed and decided that each department would identify persons from industry and academia to have them as adjunct faculty in the department According to NIT Act of Parliament coming into effect since 1 th August 2007, the Senate will nominate two members to Board of Governors of MNIT Jaipur- one from Professor cadre and other from Reader or Lecturer cadre. The Senate has recommended Prof. A. B. Gupta from Professor cadre, and a committee consisting of- Prof. A. B. Gupta, Convener, Prof. P. R. Soni, Prof. R. K. Yadava and Prof. Rakesh Jain, was formed to identify a faculty member from Reader or Lecturer cadre to be recommended to BoG Ms. M. Item No.1-3.3 To consider the names of Alumni for the award of Alumni award in the Forth Convocation of the Institute. One name of distinguished alumni received from Metallurgical and Materials Engg. Dept. with his bio-data is placed at Annexure-D. Item No. 1-3.. To consider the name of students nominee for the Senate. The toppers of VI Semester B. Tech./B.Arch. and II Semester M. Tech. are placed at at Annexure-E for consideration. Item No. 1-3. To consider the curriculum structure and syllabi of I and II Semester B. Tech./B.Arch. Item No.1-3.8 To consider the case of Mr. Lorho Emeo and Mr. Ajay Sharma students of B.Tech. Computer Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering respectively for termination of their registration due to non completion of required credits.

Both the students Mr. Lorho Emeo and Mr. Ajay Sharma have not cleared the required credits for continuation of registration as per the Table of UG Course of Study 2006-2007 and as per R.1.2 their enrolment may be terminated. Their credit details are placed at Annexure-I. Item No.1-3.9 To consider the case of Mr. Rajarshi Barooah of B. Tech. Information Technology for continuation of registration after completing six years. Mr. Rajarshi Barooah registered in 2002 in 1 st B. Tech. yearly scheme and failed to cleared 1 st year. He again registered in 2003 in new credit scheme as a fresh student and continues till 2007-2008 as per his initial registration he has completed six years. If his 1 st year is not consider due to old scheme than he may be permitted to clear his remaining course of 10 credits. The details are placed at Annexure-J. Item No.1-3.10 To consider the restoring of scholarship for M. Tech. students if required CGPA is attained. As per Ordinance No. 9 of PG programme Assistantship to students whose SGPA at the end of a semester falls below 6.0 (6.2 in the case of SC/ST) will be paid only @ 0% of the assistantship. The student whose SGPA/CGPA falls below. will not be allowed any assistantship. However, M. Tech. students belonging to SC/ST category who lose their assistantship due to SGPA requirement will be given tuition fee exemption. It is proposed that if the student again attains the required CGPA for full assistantship he may be allowed to take full assistantship. Item No.1-3.11 To consider (external) examiner for M. Tech./M. Planning The proposal submitted by the Prof. D. K. Jain is placed at Annexure K. 1..0 Reporting Items 1-.1 To note the reduced credit structure of B. Tech./B.Arch./M. Tech./MBA/M.Sc. 11-.2 To note action on the Mr. Jani Shaik for termination as he has not completed the requirements for continuing registration. Mr. Jani Shaik student of B. Tech. Metallurgical Engg. was not able to cleared required credits upto IV Semester B. Tech. for continuation of his registration and he himself was not registered in V Semester in 2007-2008. 11..0 Any other items with the permission of the Chair.
