ONCE A GORILLA ALWAYS A GORILLA

CRIMSON AND GOLD PRIDE RUNS DEEP Our winning tradition of Gorilla athletic teams plays a big role in keeping it running year-round rallying thousands of alumni, families and fans season after season. Over 350 student-athletes giving all they ve got on the field, track and court. They work hard for us, now it s time to show how much we value them. The Silverback Fund is a unique opportunity for Pittsburg State alumni, friends and fans to make a direct and meaningful impact on the academic achievement of our student-athletes. Show your Pittsburg State pride by lifting the burden of academic costs for these outstanding Gorillas and helping them achieve success on the field and in the community.

VISION WITH YOUR HELP, OUR VISION TO FUND ANNUAL ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP COSTS SOLELY WITH PRIVATE GIFTS CAN BE A REALITY. With three out of four of my family members being Pitt State graduates, I knew it was time for us to give back to the university! When Kendall Gammon was playing for the Kansas City Chiefs we developed a close, personal with Pitt State, he came to me with options for giving back that just made sense. As opportunities arise, we ll continue to support the Gorillas as a family. - Miles Schnaer - BS 70

MAKE A MEANINGFUL IMPACT Being a student-athlete isn t easy every week at least 22 hours are spent in class and studying, and another 20 hours in practice or competition. Despite their commitment, no athlete receives 100% scholarship funding and over one third receive only 25% funding of school costs. More than half of our athletic program budget goes toward scholarships, but it s not enough. A typical week for any of our 350 student-athletes: 12 hours (at minimum) in class 10 hours (on average) studying 20 hours practicing and competing

The financial shortfall: 53% of athletic program budget is spent on scholarships. No student-athlete currently receives 100% athletic scholarship support. Over 1/3 receive only 25% of the financial support needed to cover academic expenses. The Silverback Fund offers you and other Pittsburg State supporters a unique and meaningful way to do something. With a one-time, monthly or annual donation, you can provide our student-athletes with financial peace of mind. Because of you, they ll have a bright path to academic success and sharper focus on the field.

BE A PROUD FOUNDING MEMBER We invite you to be one of the first to put your name on this unique new scholarship opportunity. It s a great way to turn your Pittsburg State pride into valuable financial support and rally around our outstanding student-athletes. After all, that s what Gorillas do. You see, gorillas in the wild gather in troops. Each led by a single silverback who carries the sole responsibility of ensuring the troop s well-being. Led by this great example, we named the Silverback Fund because our athletes are depending on donors like you to ensure their academic success and to lead the way in generating excitement and support for future Gorillas.

When you have people truly invested in you and your life, success is the byproduct. - Gloria Ilariogun - Volleyball 2000-2003 There is a special bond between the Pittsburg community and Pittsburg State University which cannot be duplicated. - Ronald Moore - Football 1989-1992 Without donations from loyal fans, alumni and community, some student-athletes may not be able to afford to further their athletic and academic career. - Wendi (Rickson) Horak - Softball 1992-1994 As an athlete we always knew that donations were extremely important for the success of our teams. - Brian Moorman Track & Field 1995-1999

GIVE WHAT FEELS GOOD Whether you re an established Gorilla alum, new graduate or a fan somewhere in between, the Silverback Fund offers giving tiers to match the level that feels good to you. KICK OFF THIS AWESOME EFFORT! Our student-athletes give us reason to wear our crimson and gold with pride. If you value their commitment to our University's success, the Silverback Fund is the perfect way to show your commitment to theirs. With your help, our vision to fund annual athletic scholarship costs solely with private gifts can be a reality. Together, we ll build the foundation to attract and grow the next generation of outstanding Gorillas! Being an athlete at PSU was one of the most worthwhile and impactful experiences of my life. - Christie (Allen) Logue Cross Country/Track & Field 1989-1993 Without the help of the alumni, community, fans, and donations my dream would have never come true and that is why I have always been thankful. - Oscar Gonzalez Men s Basketball 1996-1999

It feels wonderful reconnecting with my alma mater. I am so proud of the contribution that I am able to make and I hope it impacts and inspires other young Gorillas to surpass their dreams. - Bob Leppke - BS 69 I think being a student-athlete was instrumental in building basic principles into the core of who I was that still help me today. - Jenny (Pracht) Townsend Women s Basketball 1994-1996 The support from the community, fans and alumni was one of the main deciding factors for me in choosing PSU. - Brad Shorter - Baseball 1997-1998
