Dr. Khan received all his education from the Muslim University,. Immediately after completing his M.A. (English) in Ist Division, he became lecturer in 1985. He was awarded the degrees of M. Phil. and PhD. on the poetry of Walter John de la Mare, an eminent Georgian poet, in 1987 and 1997 respectively. Dr. Khan has been the recipient of the UGC PG Merit Scholarship during M.A. and the JRF during M. Phil. He completed his PhD as a teacher candidate. Dr. Rahatullah Khan was appointed Reader/Associate Professor in 1997. Since then he has been actively engaged in Post graduate teaching and research. His teaching assignments at the PG level includes, Modern Poetry, Post-Modern Poetry and Literary Criticism besides Indian English Poetry like those of Nissim Ezekiel, Kamla Das and Sarojini Naidu etc. His area of specialization is Early 20th Century Poetry with special emphasis on the Georgian Poetry. Besides two books and one monograph, Dr. Khan has contributed research papers/articles in reputed journals like "The Journal of English Studies", AMU, "Studies in Literature in English", Atlantic Publishers New Delhi, "Indian Ethos", Karnal (Haryana), "Readings", and "The Journal of The Faculty of Arts", AMU,.
