LEMONT TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 210 BOARD OF EDUCATION August 22, 2016 The Board of Education of Lemont Township High School District 210, Cook and DuPage Counties, Illinois, met for its regular meeting in the Board Room on Monday, August 22, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. Call to Order President Shackel called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll Call The following members were present: Marzec, Tally, Driscoll, Koehler, Kardas, and Shackel Commencement of Closed Session It was moved by Member Tally, seconded by Member Koehler, that the Board of Education move into Closed Session for the purpose of: Personnel appointment, employment compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine validity. (5ILCS120/2(c)(1)) The placement of individual students in special education programs or other matters relating to individual students. (5ILCS120/2(c)(10)) Aye: Tally, Koehler, Marzec, Driscoll, Kardas, and Shackel Whereupon the President declared the motion duly carried and the Board of Education moved into Closed Session at 6:02 p.m.

Aye: Driscoll, Tally, Koehler, Kardas, Marzec, and Shackel Whereupon the President declared the motion duly carried and the Board of Education concluded its Closed Session at 6:37 p.m. President Shackel introduced the Lemont High School teachers to the Board and they introduced themselves. Pledge of Allegiance Awards and Recognitions John Young, Director of Activities & Athletics recognized 2015 South Suburban Conference Coaches of the Year. Chris Hill Girls Tennis, and Tim Plotke Girls Cross Country. Mr. Young highlighted their seasons. The meeting recessed at 7:03 p.m. and reconvened at 7:06 p.m. Public Comment Diane Mullins, Cook County Clerk s Office, spoke to the Board about the need for election judges and equipment managers. She said they are looking for student judges who could be juniors or seniors at Lemont High School. She explained the process and left paperwork with Eric Michaelsen. Presentation Tina Malak provided a report on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Building Administration Reports Eric Michaelsen, Principal, gave an overview of the new teacher induction program and the new Department Chair meeting. He also gave an overview of the first two institute days. Day one was Opening Day where the Extra Mile Award was given to Erin Horan and Amanda Huling and the Pride in Excellence Award was given to Patte Doornbos. Day two included presentations by Lemont High School teachers to their colleagues, which focused on technology in the classroom. He reported on Freshman Only Day and explained the events that took place. Mr. Michaelsen also reported there are 1,377 students attending LHS this year. Jeff Eagan, Chief School Business Official, submitted the financial reports as of July 31, 2016.

Minutes of August 22, 2016 Page 3 of 9 Building Administration Reports (cont.) Dr. Ticknor gave an update on the summer technology infrastructure projects. She thanked the Board their support. Tony Hamilton gave an overview of the registration process. He reported that 99.6% of students are registered. Dr. Ticknor reminded the Board the Keepataw Parade is Saturday, September 3. She also reminded the Board of the LHSEF Event taking place on September 10. Approval of Consent Agenda It was moved by Member Driscoll, seconded by Member Kardas, that the Board of Education approve the Consent Agenda consisting of: The Minutes of the of July 31, 2016, The Minutes of the Closed Session of July 31, 2016, The Bills through August 22, 2016 totaling $1,053,933.34, The Payroll in the amounts of: $0.00 (Benefits Only) for the period ending 07/01/2016, $102,988.62 for the period ending 07/08/2016, $101,009.50 for the period ending 07/22/2016. Action Consideration No. 16-10: Authorized the Board to approve the 2016-2017 Amendment to School Calendar, as recommended by the Superintendent. Aye: Driscoll, Kardas, Koehler, Marzec, Tally, and Shackel Whereupon the President declared the motion duly carried. Information Items #16-02 FY16 FOIA: Two Freedom of Information requests were received and completed by the District Office. The information was provided to the Board. #16-03 FY2017 Tentative Budget: Jeff Eagan, Chief School Business Official, presented the FY17 Tentative Budget. Additional documentation regarding the appointments are appended. CERTIFIED: 1. HIRE: Mentor: Mentors for first and second year teachers, $998.20 for the 2016-2017 school year: Rob Hammerschmidt, Lead Mentor Ann Rodriguez-Baltrum, mentor for Marcy Paddock Jeff Perich, Drivers Education Behind the Wheel, before and/or after school as needed, for the 2016-2017school year, at $34.22/hour (with TRS) Kevin Hoge, Drivers Education Behind the Wheel, before and/or after school as needed, for the 2016-2017school year, at $34.22/hour (with TRS) Dennis Kennedy, Drivers Education Behind the Wheel, before and/or after school as needed, for the 2016-2017school year, at $34.22/hour (with TRS) Marcy Paddock, FACS Teacher, 0.75 FTE, MA, Step 7, with a stipend of $49,994.25 for 2016-2017 school year. Ryan McLaughlin, Special Education Teacher, 0.17 FTE, BA, Step 1, with a stipend of $8,484.70 for the 2016-2017 school year. Level 1 Substitute Teacher: Kevin Skrabacz, 1 st Semester only, $120 per day with a minimum of 90 days and maximum of 110 days, from 8:00 am 2:37 pm with a 30 minute duty-free lunch, effective 2016-2017 school year. Brian Lambie, $120 per day with a minimum of 90 days and maximum of 110 days, from 8:00 am 2:37 pm with a 30 minute duty-free lunch, effective 2016-2017 school year.
