KRISHNA KANTA HANDIQUI STATE OPEN UNIVERSITY Home Assignment for Introduction to Information Technology [BAIT] 5 th Semester, 2014 Following questions are required to be done by learners in their own computer / study centre s computer and should be submitted at study centre. Practical examination will be evaluated internally by the centre and the marks shall be submitted to the University in the same line as assignment of other subjects. Total Marks: 50 1Q. Create a new word document and type the following: [10] Education is a backbone of a society. In common parlance education is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In continuing with the aim of building a knowledge based society Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University was established to provide quality higher education through open and distance learning to reach the unreached of the society. KKHSOU, established under the provision of the KKHSOU, Act 2005 enacted by the Govt. of Assam & published in the Assam Gazette (extraordinary) dated 29/9/05 has been recognized by the Distance Education Council, New Delhi vide letter no. DEC/Misc/07/5957 dated 03/10/07. The University Grants Commission vide its letter No. F.9-13/2008(CPP-I) dated 18th March, 2009 also has empowered the University to award degrees under Section 22 of UGC Act, 1956. It is the fourteenth of its kind along with IGNOU and the only state Open University in the whole of NE India. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission and Distance Education Council, Govt. of India.

Now, do the following: i. Justify the paragraph ii. Select the first paragraph and do the following: iii. Change the first paragraph font into Calibri. iv. Change the font size into 12. v. Add appropriate header and footer vi. Add page number in the lower right corner of the document vii. Find the word KKHSOU and replace it with Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University viii. Save and quite from MS-Word. x. Change the margin of the document as: Top 1.20", Bottom 1.50", Left 1.20" and Right 2.20". 2Q. Open Power Point and start from a black slide: [10] i. Select a suitable slide layout. ii. Create appropriate side containing the following: About your Study Centre About various Departments About the courses offered by your Study Centre About teaching and non-teaching staff. iii. Now that you have the slides ready, you decide to insert pictures and objects to enhance their appeal. iv. Apply animation. v. Save the Power point presentation.

3Q. Open MS-Word and write a letter to your head of the department for five days leave and do the following as given: [5] i. Save the letter as Leave.doc ii. Save As the same document as Application.Doc iii. See its print preview. iv. Close the document Application.Doc v. Exit from the MS-Word. 4Q. Suppose, you have a monthly income of Rs. 32000. Your monthly outgoings are Rent: Rs.5500, Food: Rs.8000, Electricity: Rs.400, Phone: Rs.300 and Medicine: Rs.600. Make out a clear worksheet with the Monthly Income, the Monthly Expenses listed and summed, the remainder (what is left over each month) calculated, and the amount left over per day (assuming 30 days in a month). Select Cell D8 and use Insert Function to calculate the AVERAGE of the Salaries. v. Save the spreadsheet and name it.
