E.P. Skills Reading, spelling, dictation, and grammar are practiced in E.P. Skills. Every Week EP Skills Activities Spelling or Dictation Reading Given 15 words. The score goes towards their English grade. There will also be 5 bonus words which do not go towards their score. The boys will be given words to learn, which will be tested in a paragraph of writing, every 3 rd week. We will read as a class and have activities for comprehension and enjoyment of the story. Occasional Activities Discussion Speaking Discussion groups to develop the skills of compromising, giving opinions, listening to others. One on one speaking test assessed on fluency, accuracy, pronunciation and communication (once per term).

EP Skills Grade 5 Novels Here are the novels we will be reading in class and at home. Reading 30 minutes a day will improve your child s Grades at school! Parents can encourage reading by keeping print books in the home, reading themselves, and setting aside time daily for their children to read.

Grade 5 Textbooks and Workbooks We use My Pals Are Here! textbooks and workbooks: 4A but still designed for Grade 5

ipads Like last year, boys in Grade 5 can bring their ipad to school. We also have some school ipads for boys who cannot bring one. The ipads will be used as a learning tool only in class and for extension work at home. Basic ipad is all that s necessary. Make sure they are charged everyday. FOR SCHOOL only. We do not allow them to play games.

Edmodo and Brain Pop Every boy in Grade 5 needs to be enrolled on Edmodo and have the code to use Brain Pop. Edmodo Links, presentations, movies and quizzes on here for students to do. Brain Pop fun online learning at school and home.

Grade 5 Computers and STEM Popular imac programs, how computers work, researching the Internet, and coding, as well as STEM. Please can students bring their own earphones or Headphones.
