Report on Training-cum-Workshop on ICT Enabled Monitoring System on HMNEH, NBA and HORTNET held in Meghalaya on the 20 th & 21 st April 2015. A two days training programme on ICT based Software monitoring system for HORTICULTURE MISSION FOR NORTH EAST & HIMALAYAN STATE (HMNEH) AND NATIONAL BAMBOO MISSION (NBM) was held on the 20 th April 2015 at MATI Training Hall, Shillong, Meghalaya and HORTNET Software Application on the 21 st April 2015 at NIC Meghalaya State Centre. The Training programme was organized jointly by the Directorate of Horticulture and Meghalaya Small Farmers Agri-business Consortium, Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Meghalaya. The training programme was facilitated by NIC Meghalya State Centre, Shillong. The training programme on the 20 th April 2015 began with the Inaugural Session which was chaired by Smt. D. Syiemiong, Director of Agriculture, Govt. of Meghalaya. The Chief Guest of the function was Smt. M. N. Nampui, Joint Secretary, Govt. Of Meghalaya, Department of Agriculture, etc. In her inaugural speech, the Chief Guest highlighted the State s growth in the field of Horticulture since the TMNEH/HMNEH scheme has been launched in Meghalaya since 2001-02. She remarked on the marketing potential of horticultural products to neighbouring states as well as other countries. With regards to the online reporting of the scheme, she stressed upon the need to move from the manual system of reporting to the online web based system. Online reporting system will help to remove the inconsistency of data and make the system more transparent. Sri Rakesh Vardhan,TD and National Project Coordinator (Horticulture Division ), NIC Hqrs, New Delhi, give a keynote address on the overview of ICT enablement in Horticulture. Others spoken on the occassion are Shri. N. Sanatomba Singh,Under Secretary, DAC, GOI and Shri. B. Lyngskor, Technical Director, NIC Meghalaya, Shillong and the vote of thanks was presented by Smt.S. Nongbet, Deputy Director of Horticulture(Plng),Shillong. The participants of the training includes the State and District level functionaries from the State Horticulture Mission, Forest Department and NIC. Training Session : The training started with the presentation of web-based application of HMNEHS, NBA and HAPIS by Shri. Rakesh Vardhan, who also explained the features of progress monitoring module and various reports available in the softwares. At the end of the session, feedback was collected from participants and their queries were answered by Shri. Rakesh Vardhan. The first day training programme ends with the lab session. The second day training programme on HORTNET Workflow based automated system software was conducted on the 21 st April 2015 at NIC Meghalaya State Centre. The presentation of web-based application was provided by Mohd. Arif Ali, Scientist D & HORTNET Co-ordinator, NIC Hyderabad on various modules like Farmer Registration, different horticulture schemes, Block Level Officer role, District Level Officer role, SHM role, Application status, updation of master databases etc. He also explained the features of progress monitoring module available in the software. Shri.Tanweer Khan, Sr. Programmer, SHM TS,Telangana,AP also provides the demonstration of the HORTNET Application. At the end of the session, feedback was collected from the participants.
