History of the project in the Pskov Region Initially suggested by the Governor of the Pskov Region in October 2003 First discussed at the CSO meeting in Tartu and Pskov, March 2004 Several feasibility studies were conducted by the experts in 2006-2007. PskovSU was chosen as the best university in the Pskov Region Idea to support EF-P project was expressed at the ministers meeting in Malmo, Sweden, 2007 On September 1, 2012 the II phase of EuroFaculty - Pskov project was launched On January 1, 2009 the I phase of EuroFaculty - Pskov project was launched Winning consortium was chosen by the International Expert Group on 12 June 2008 2

FINANCING CONCEPT EuroFaculty-Pskov project The objective of the project is restructuring the curriculum in Business Economics at Pskov State University along the lines of the Bologna principles and according to international standards and thereby also improve the capacity for the economic development in the Pskov region Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Russian co-financing within the program Scientific and Pedagogical Personnel for Innovative Russia in 2009-2013 Financing of the activities in Russia devoted to the dissemination of the project outcomes within the Russian Presidency in the CBSS (1 July 2012 30 June 2013): - international conference Problems and Prospects of Europeanization of the Border Territories - international seminar Strategic programme for the development of PskovSU (the Ministry for Education and Science of the Russian Federation 7

I PHASE (ACADEMIC) OBJECTIVES 1. To develop BSc and MSc programmes in Economics 2. To improve methodological materials which will allow to improve the efficiency of studies by introduction of innovative methods 3. To develop infrastructure of technical and information resources 4. Faculty development by studying European experience and language trainings 5. To increase mobility of teachers and students 6. To provide access for teachers and students to internet, information resources, e-libraries and to use best practices in application of IT technologies in studies 8

II PHASE (INTERNATIONALIZATION) OBJECTIVES 1. To consolidate the four-year Bachelor programme by further developing its content and teaching methods in order to make it sustainable. 2. To design and launch a two-year International Master's programme in business studies meeting the requirements of the Bologna system. This will require international mobility and networking (launch in 2014). 3. To contribute to Innovation and Regional Development. This will be done by introducing business education and innovation programmes and a one-year Management Development Programme. 9

Results of EuroFaculty-Pskov project (2) The total number of the EFP students (Finance and Economics Faculty) is more than 1000 In 2014: - 275 students were enrolled to BSc programme - 13 students were enrolled to MSc programme The international networking MSc degree programme Business in the Baltic Sea Region (in English) that was launched in September, 2014 proves to be progressive and farsighted. It s planned to increase the number of students from the Pskov Region, neighboring regions and countries. 15

Results of EuroFaculty-Pskov project (3) The BDPro Your Journey to Innovation and Growth aims to develop future leaders who can add real value to their companies through a modern business approach and international networks The BDPro is a six-month programme focusing on promoting cross-border activity and developing new business opportunities and networks around and between north-west Russia, the Baltic countries and Scandinavia alongside its excellent executive education content The participants will go through five interlinked four-day modules located in Finland, Russia, Latvia and Estonia and organised by the leading universities and business schools of the region 16

Faculty development - More than 100 trainings to donor universities and to PskovSU (programmes developers, teachers, librarians, experts, staff) - A training programme for the developers of courses (25 participants received certificates) - Seminars and workshops on courses development, introduction of innovative approaches, quality assurance - 3 international conferences Problems and Perspectives of Europeanization of Education in the Border territories (more than 300 participants) - Courses of the English language for teachers involved in the implementation of the EuroFaculty-Pskov project (about 50 teachers improved their English) 18

The Bologna principles The Bologna principles in PskovSU 3-tier degree structure (BSc, MSc and PhD programmes) Quality Assurance European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) European diploma Supplement Mobility of teachers, students and staff (20%) Lifelong learning etc. 19

Infrastructure development - E-reading Hall is equipped with the up-to-date equipment (free access to international and Russian databases, internet recourses, e-libraries etc.) - An Open Access Reading Hall is fully equipped and functioning - EBSCO BSC subscription is provided (actively used in studies by teachers and students) - Computer classes for active use of innovative methods are equipped - A Classroom for MSc students is equipped with all the facilities for organizing lectures and practical classes within the network programme, i.e. videoconference equipment, beamer, laptops, etc. - Language laboratory has all the facilities for teachers ad students (languages of the Baltic Sea Region are taught as well) - Literature in the English language, including e-books, is purchased 20

WAYS OF INTERNATIONALIZATION AT PSKOVSU Internationalization (1) A SEPARATE WORKING GROUP ON DISSEMINATION OF THE EUROFACULTY- PSKOV PROJECT EXPERIENCE AMONG THE OTHER FACULTIES OF THE UNIVERSITY Increasing the number of foreign lecturers coming to PskovSU, many of whom visit the university within the EuroFaculty-Pskov project. The objective is to have visiting professors at all the chairs (60) of the university. Implementation of a number of projects on English language training for teachers, including English language with native speakers, Preparation for the Cambridge ESOL examination and others Organization of activities with active participation of international partners for teachers and students (conferences, workshops, contests for students etc.) The focus on internationalization and cross-border cooperation in research (scientific and educational centres, covering international topics in preparation of final thesis by the students (problems and perspectives of doing business in the Baltic Sea Region, internationalization of business in the region, entrepreneurship between borders etc.) 21

WAYS OF INTERNATIONALIZATION AT PSKOVSU Internationalization (2) Admission and enrollment of international students: at the moment, almost 700 international students from 28 countries take their studies at PskovSU on the educational programmes all types and levels Development of international project activities and increasing the number of international educational and scientific projects participants: up to the date, 8 projects are being implemented at PskovSU (CBSS, Erasmus Mundus, Jean Monnet, FIRST etc.) Increasing the level of academic mobility of students and teachers: in academic year 2013/2014 the student mobility flow accounted for 356 people, teacher and staff mobility flow 343 people. Resources: projects, scholarships, networks, bilateral cooperation, own resources 22

WAYS OF INTERNATIONALIZATION AT PSKOVSU Internationalization (3) Vice-Deans for international cooperation at all the faculties: coordination of international cooperation of faculties with partner universities, developing international cooperation of faculties in education and research Project managers at faculties of the university: preparation of project applications, assistance in implementation of international projects, dissemination of information to teachers and students Participation of PskovSU in international networks: the Baltic Sea Region University Network (BSRUN), the Baltic University Programme (BUP), University of the Arctic (June 2014), plans to join other networks (the CIS Network university, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, etc.) 23

PskovSU as a regional centre of expertise - Vast experience in development and implementation of joint, mobility and international network programmes - Significant outcomes achieved as the result of internationalization of PskovSU (international development indicator of the university 5 times increases the threshold level) - Development and management of project in all the direction of the development in the Pskov Region - PskovSU is ready for cooperation with the universities in the Baltic Sea Region for training highly-qualified specialists in various fields (possible expertise in: development of study programmes, methodological materials, organization of seminars, workshops and trainings, implementation of joint programmes) 26
