Foreign Language Learning Center Schedule Tuesdays (Rm 1507) Wednesdays EOP 8:20 Thursdays (Rm 1507): Fridays (Rm 1507) CLASSROOM RULES AND POLICIES! What a great opportunity you have been given. We are fortunate to be in a school district that in the end wants you to be educated in your first language. In order for this to happen, the student must do his or her part. Lessons in class will be models and examples of practice that will be necessary outside of the classroom. If you do not plan on using it outside of class this year, plan on not using it in life. Also, the student must be in class to learn. If the your goal is to use your Spanish in a professional setting one day, attendance is critical for your success. T o r e v i e w v o c a b u l a r y, grammar, listening a n d s p e a k i n g exercises on a daily basis, students can a c c e s s t h e A v a n c e m o s t e x t b o o k a t classzone.com. Also, for more practice and games go to the @Home Tutor website listed below: http://www.classzone.com/cz/books/avancemos_2 Homework Guidelines Learning a foreign language in the classroom is a difficult task due to the limited amount of time available to the student to practice. Therefore, it is essential that the student review the vocabulary on a daily basis in order to retain language skills. Homework is practice, not a test. Even if you aren t sure you re doing it right.do IT! You earn credit for assignments done to the best of your ability and on time. Questions about the homework will be answered the next day in 1. Schedule your homework time into your daily activities. 2. Do your own work. Copying does not equal learning. 3. All work must be neat (Continued on page 3)

The Environment: Reduce, reuse, recycle Keep your table/desk and surrounding area clean. Do not deface your school. Your notebook will be checked for a grade. ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES There is a direct relationship between academic success and regular, punctual school attendance. Attendance and punctuality are the sole responsibility of the student and his/her family. ON TIME means: The student is in his/her assigned seat, with appropriate materials out, and is ready to work before the tardy bell rings. The school reserves the right to determine whether or not a student is tardy. Any student not in his/her seat prepared to work when the tardy bell rings will be sent to the attendance office for the appropriate discipline action. Each tardy will count as an absence for that day. A student who reaches his/her thirteenth (13 th ) absence and/or tardy may lose credit eligibility the Absent? 1. Check the calendar for work, test, and/or quizzes that need to be made up. 2. Check the baskets 3.
