CSU GRADUATION REQUIREMENT IN U.S. HISTORY, CONSTITUTION & AMERICAN IDEALS Not part of CSU, but may be completed prior to transfer. For CSU GE certification purposes, courses used to satisfy this CSU graduation requirement may also be used to satisfy CSU GE Plan Subject Area D. However, if a course(s) is used to satisfy both an CSU GE subject-area requirement and the CSU United States History, Constitution and American Ideals graduation requirement, some CSU campuses may require students to take an additional course(s) after transfer. CSUN will NOT require an additional course(s). Other CSU campuses should be consulted directly regarding their policy. -1: Historical development of American institutions and ideals -2: U.S. Constitution and government -3: California state and local government *This requirement may be met before or after transfer to the CSU. * If a course is approved for more than one Area, a student may use the course to satisfy all areas listed. 1-1: Economics 10; History 11, 12, 13, 41, 42, 43, 44, 52 AP/CLEP: 2-2: Political Science 1, 19; AP: 3-3: Political Science 1, 19, 30 Course: NOTES *CSUN s Comparative Cultures Graduation Requirement (May be completed at Pierce College) Students who are fully CSU GE Certified from Pierce College are required to complete 3 units to fulfill this requirement. Students who are not CSU GE Certified, such as most Engineering and Computer Science majors, will need to complete 6 units to fulfill this requirement. Any of the following Pierce College courses may be used to meet CSUN s Comparative Cultures graduation requirement and meet CSU GE Areas C, D or E above. These courses are noted with an asterisk (*) in the CSU GE Plan above. Anthropology 109, 132; Art 105, 109; ASL 1, 2, 3, 4; Chicano 2, 20, 80; English 219, 239; French 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; History 5, 6, 41, 42, 43, 44, 52; Italian 1, 2, 3, 4, 5; Japanese 1, 2, 3, 4; Psychology 32; Soc 11, 31; Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 26, 27, 35, 36. CSU GE Policy and Information (See the Transfer Center website for the full Pierce College CSU-GE policy) CSU GE Plan courses must be completed with a passing grade. At Pierce, this is a grade of A, B, C, D or P. However, areas A1, A2, A3 and B4, must be completed with a C (2.0) or better for admissions to a CSU campus. Courses may be used only once to satisfy one CSU subject area, even if they are listed in the course agreement under more than one subject area. Courses may be used to satisfy both CSU and major requirements. Warning: Many students attend multiple California Community College campuses. If that s you, be sure to follow the CSUGE at each college of attendance. CSUGE policy states that CSUGE coursework completed in a specific subject area will be used in the area designated by the California Community College at which the course was completed. This is also the policy if you complete courses at more than one of the LACCD campuses. You must follow the CSUGE of each college you attend.

Use of External Exams The following External Exams may be used toward completion of the CSU GE Plan in the areas indicated below. All CSU campuses will accept the minimum units shown below toward fulfillment of the designated General Education area. The CSU Campus you transfer to determines the total number of units awarded for each external exam and the applicability of the examination to other graduation requirements. AP SUBJECT Passing Min.
