Education week was a fantastic opportunity to share some of the many awesome things that we do here at GEPS! The theme for this year was Today s schools creating tomorrow s world. Throughout the week, we had our display boards at Erina Fair and they looked amazing! The boards are still on display in our foyer. If you didn t get a chance to catch it at Erina Fair, please come and have a look. There are samples of work from students K-6 and some lovely photos of things that we have done throughout this year. Also throughout the week, we hosted the Book Fair in our library. Huge thanks to Mrs Coles and her helpers for their organization and proceeds from the sale of books, will be donated to our school. On Monday we participated in the concert at Erina Fair with the Erina Learning Community. Our dancers and choir were terrific! On Tuesday, we held our Public Speaking finals and once again, students were amazing! I am constantly in awe of the confidence and ability that our students show. Good luck to our winners who will now present their speeches in the Central Coast final at Gosford PS on Thursday. Best wishes to our representatives - Hamish, Natasha, Matilda, Hussain, Bailey, Charlie, Lucy and Roseanna. On Wednesday we held our Open Day and began with a fantastic assembly where we saw our Kinder classes wow us with some great dancing, our dance groups and choir perform. Bailey also gave us some tips on how to nag you parents! After assembly, our classrooms were buzzing with our visitors! Thanks to our P&C for making such delicious lunches available. On Thursday, we held our book parade and some of our Stage 3 students played in an Oz Tag Gala Day. The behaviour of our students was once again exceptional and it was great to see such an amazing display of costumes! What a fun day! Skin Cancer Clinic Car Park I have had another call from the Skin Cancer Clinic in regard to parents parking in their private car park before and after school. This has resulted in a number of patients having to walk a considerable distance as there was no parking left in the clinic. We are aware that parking is a considerable problem due to there being four schools in this area and especially the number of senior students that park in Webb St. However the skin cancer clinic car park is a private car park and must not be used by parents. P & C Meeting A reminder that the next P&C meeting is on next Tuesday 11 th September in the staff room commencing at 7:00pm. Your attendance will be welcomed.

World-Cup-A-Thon A huge thank you to all our students, families, community and staff for your generous donations and efforts in fundraising for our shade-cloth via the World-Cup-A-Thon! Prizes will be awarded this Friday during assembly. It is a very exciting time! Graeme McLeod PRINCIPAL Thank you Dear students, families and carers, It is with a very grateful but heavy heart that I let you know that my life s path has me moving to another school. I am ever so grateful for the opportunity to be part of this great GEPS community for the last 6 years and for sharing your beautiful children with me! Keep working hard GEPS! You are truly amazing! EXPRESSION OF INTEREST Expression of Interest Supporting GEPS Daily Individual Reading Program Dear Parents/Caregivers, The involvement of our community at GEPS is very much valued and appreciated. With this in mind we are asking if any members of your community are available and able to commit their time each week to support individual reading program for GEPS students. The initial Year One program will need a consistent commitment of two hours (9am-11am) on one or more mornings each week. Training will be provided. Presently we are requiring volunteers on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. If you are interested in volunteering and are available to make the commitment to support this program, please complete the return slip below and return it to the office. Should you require any further information or have any questions please contact Mrs. Hextall. SCHOOL NEWS AND EVENTS PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) Throughout the last fortnight we have been investigating the PBL language and expectations that we use over all settings within our classrooms. We show respect to ourselves and others by listening, speaking politely and being friendly. We are responsible by keeping safe, being in the right place at the right time and keeping our hands and feet to ourselves. We ensure we are super learners by following instructions, being prepared and doing our best! Next week we are going to be bringing PBL into our classrooms with specific lessons focusing on what Responsible, Respectful Learners look like during class time! At Gosford East Public School we are Respectful, Responsible Learners! BOOK FAIR & CHARACTER PARADE I would like to thank all the families that supported our Book Fair last week. We sold just under $3000 worth of books and made approximately $750 in Scholastic Rewards which we will use to purchase books for our library and classrooms. Our Book Character Parade Day was a wonderful celebration of our School Libraries 50th Anniversary as the George Kent Library. It was wonderful to see so many students dressed in characters from well loved books from past decades. Our Kinder and Year One students enjoyed Judy Townsend s talk and I have a collection of her books for purchase, there is a flyer coming home. Years 2 to 6 had Weirdo drawing lessons from Jules Faber which was a lot of fun. Thank you to everyone for all your support for our School Library. Lyndall Coles Teacher Librarian
