Curriculum offerings Our distinctive curriculum offerings St. Patrick s teaches the curriculum provided by the QSA (Queensland Studies Authority) to ensure quality teaching and learning. The curriculum includes: Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Study of Society, Science, Technology, Cultural Language and Literacy, The Arts, Health & Physical Education and Sport. Extra curricula activities St Patrick's is part of the Active After School Community Program. This program is free of charge and run twice a week. How Information and Communication Technologies are used to assist learning St. Patrick s prides itself in being one of the leading schools in the South Burnett in ICLT. Children are engaging with Interactive Whiteboards, PC and Apple computers (desktops and laptops), digital video and still cameras, and various programs to enhance the learning experience. The Interactive Whiteboards in each room engage students in the learning process and provide interesting and interactive learning experiences. St. Patrick s ICLT computer environment allows all computers access to the internet through a wireless network. The school boasts 3 banks of 10 laptops which can be moved to any classroom in a totally mobile environment. Social climate St Patrick's is a KidsMatter school which is a mental health Australian Primary Schools Mental Health Initiative. KidsMatter encompasses four components: 1. A Positive School Community 2. Social and Emotional learning for students 3. Parenting support and education Early intervention for students experiencing mental health difficulties. Parent, student and teacher satisfaction with the school Parent satisfaction with St Patrick's is high. We have a small but active Parents and Friends Association that are committed to improving the learning environment and making St Patrick's a welcoming and positive community. Involving parents in their child s education Parents are strongly encouraged to be part of their children's learning and we believe a strong partnership between staff and parents enhances learning. Parents attend a parent teacher interview at the beginning of term 1. The purpose of this meeting is to establish a relationship between parents and teacher as well gather information from parents regarding their child's learning. Classrooms have open learning celebrations where children can 'show off' their learning to their parents.
