MPH and MS Theses Quantitative, research-based Usually data analysis from a completed study, but could involve new data collection Proposal approved by thesis committee Human subjects approval or exemption 3-9 months of work Goal: paper published in peer-reviewed journal

Master s to PhD Transition Apply in December or August of 2 nd year Add a letter of support from current faculty Ideally have made good progress on thesis, and have some ideas for area of dissertation work Not necessary to have taken the Preliminary Exam, but if you take it, your score will be taken into account Acceptance proportion is very high (>95%)
