Applications in the prescribed forms are invited as per letters referred under reference number (06 & 07) received from Principal Secretary, (Higher Education) Government of Karnataka, from qualified candidates of Indian nationality for the Teaching Posts in the Post-Graduate Departments, Karnatak University Campus, Dharwad and in the Post-Graduate Centres of Karwar/Gadag/ Haveri and Constituent Colleges of Local Cadre of Hyderabad-Karnataka region pertaining to Karnataka State only. A set of eight (8) prescribed application forms can be had from the Director, Prasaranga, Karnatak University, Dharwad-03 in person on presentation of Bank challan/online paid receipt for having credited the amount of Rs. 400/- in the State Bank of India/ Syndicate Bank, Karnatak University Campus, Dharwad or by post duly sending a self-addressed stamped envelope (28 x 12 cms) duly affixing Rs. 50/- postal stamp along with a crossed DD for Rs. 400/- (for SC/ST/Cat-I/Physically Disabled) and Rs 1,000/-(For GM and others) drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, K.U. Dharwad, payable at K.U. Campus, Dharwad. The prescribed fees for application form can be paid online through State Bank of India/ Syndicate Bank gateway in the University website www.kud.ac.in. The filled-in applications together with necessary documents and challan or a crossed D.D. of Rs. 400/- (for SC/ST/Cat-I/ Physically Disabled) and Rs 1,000/-(For GM and others) as processing fees drawn in favour of the FINANCE OFFICER, KARNATAK UNIVERSITY, DHARWAD payable at K.U. Campus, Dharwad/online paid receipt should reach the REGISTRAR, KARNATAK UNIVERSITY, DHARWAD-580003, on or before 28/11/2017 by Registered Post with Acknowledgement (RPAD). -3- QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ABOVE POSTS: PROFESSOR: An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology - mediated teaching learning process. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the III & IV Amendments, 2016 of the UGC Regulations. OR An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/ allied/ relevant disciplines. A Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). A minimum of eight years of regular service as Assistant Professor (should have completed five years of service as Assistant Professor in Stage-2 and three years of service as Assistant Professor in Stage-3) and/or research in an academic/ research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/ industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/ or research/ policy papers. Ph.D. Degree in which the post is Advertised. One Orientation and One Refresher/Research Methodology Course of minimum 3 weeks duration. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology - mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the III & IV Amendments, 2016 of the UGC Regulations.

-4- MUSIC: i) Good academic record with doctoral degree, with performing ability of high professional standard. ii) iii) iv) Eight years of experience of teaching at the University, College level and / or research in University / national level institutions excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree as a full time research scholar. Has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the subject concerned, as evidenced by quality of publications. Contribution to educational innovation such as designing of new courses, curricula and / or outstanding performing achievement in the field of specialization. OR A traditional and a professional artist with highly commendable professional achievement in the concerned subject, who should be or have: a) 'A' grade artist of AIR/TV; b) Eight years of outstanding performing achievements in the field of specialization; c) Experience in designing of new courses and /or curricula; d) Participation in Seminars/Conferences in reputed institutions; and e) Ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in that discipline. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Languages, Law, Journalism and Mass Communication Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master's Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. Further, the award of degree to candidates registered for the M.Phil/Ph.D programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bylaws/Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and the Ph.D candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:-

-5- a) Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only; a) Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners; b) Open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate had been conducted; c) Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least one must be in a refereed journal; d) Candidate has made at least two presentations in conferences/seminars, based on his/her Ph.D work. (a) to (e) as above are to be certified by the Vice-Chancellor/Pro-Vice- Chancellor/Dean (Academic Affairs)/Dean (University instructions). NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/ SLET/ SET is not conducted. Music: Qualifications as mentioned under the title Assistant Professor. OR A traditional and a professional artist with highly commendable professional achievement in the concerned subject, who should have: a) Studied under noted / reputed traditional masters and has thorough knowledge to explain the subject concerned; b) A high grade artist of AIR / TV; and c) Ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in that discipline. SCALE OF PAY: Professor : Rs. 37400 67000 with AGP 10000 Associate Professor : Rs. 37400 67000 with AGP 9000 Assistant Professor : Rs. 15600 39100 with AGP 6000 EXPERIENCE OF TEACHING MEANS: Service rendered in College/ University on a full time basis & in approved UGC Pay Scales or other Government Scales and duly certified by the head of the institution will be considered as teaching experience Part-time/temporary assignments (e.g. Guest faculty) are not considered for the purpose of computing the teaching experience. RURAL CANDIDATE: -6- Candidates claiming reservation under rural category should have studied and passed from 1 st to 10 th STD in rural areas governed by prevailing rules relating to reservations and shall produce a certificate in Form No. 2 issued by the competent authorities. PHYSICALLY DISABLED: Candidates claiming reservation under Physically Disabled should submit the Certificate from District Surgeon. OTHER CONDITIONS: 1. Candidate must possess the required qualification/s before the last date prescribed for the receipt of application. 2. The relevant documents (such as SSLC or Date of Birth Certificate) in support of date of birth must be enclosed. 3. Latest Caste Certificate showing in D form issued by Tahashildar. 4. Appointment to the posts may be permanent depending upon nature of the vacancy and the requirement of the University. In such case, they will be on probation for a period of two years according to the rules of the University. 5. Every Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor appointed shall execute a service agreement to the University signed between the candidate and the University. 6. Candidates selected for the above said posts are liable to be posted to work either at Dharwad or at any of the P.G. Departments at Karwar/ Gadag/ Haveri or any other Post-Graduate Department/ Centre established in future, though the posts are shown as existing at a particular place at the time of advertisement or may be posted to any P.G. Department with inter-disciplinary/ Multi-disciplinary teaching. 7. Candidates who are in service shall send their applications through their employer mentioning all the service details (number of years rendered on permanent basis on the day of application in the post/s, scale of pay, UGC/State Govt. Scale of pay etc.) in the covering letter by the employer so as to reach the undersigned on or before the last date prescribed, failing which their applications will not be considered. 8. Others need not apply for these posts as they are clearly earmarked in this advertisement for SC/ST. 9. The copies of the publications and attested true copies of Testimonials/ Certificates/ Caste Certificates/ Statement of Marks/ Service Certificate should be enclosed to all the eight sets, which will not be returned. 10. The application and processing fee is not refundable under any circumstances. 11. Separate applications are to be sent for each post (P.G. and UG) by clearly mentioning the name of the post and subject. 12. All belated, incomplete and not in the prescribed applications form in eight sets and without payment of processing fees and without the downloading fees (in case of the downloaded application forms) will be rejected, and no further correspondence will be entertained in the matter. The University is not responsible for the transit delay. 13. Canvassing directly or indirectly will disqualify the candidate. 14. The right either to fill or not to fill the above posts advertised is reserved with the University. 15. The appointments will be made as per the conditions laid down in Government letter No. ED 572 UNE 2014 dated 27.09.2017 received from Department of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka.

-7-16. The right to select or disqualify the candidates is reserved with the University. No further correspondence will be entertained in this regard. 17. A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master's level for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures. 18. A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19 th September, 1991. 19. The period of time taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil. and /or Ph.D. Degree shall not be considered as teaching/ research experience to be claimed for appointment to the teaching positions. 20. Candidates are informed to download the Proforma, provided in the University Website, in connection with API and fill them up very clearly and legible and attach the proofs for assessment. It is mandatory. 21. Candidates are informed to refer UGC Website www.ugc.ac.in for more information on the Minimum Required Qualifications for different cadres and other details in this regard. Further, formats for submitting a minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the III & IV Amendments, 2016 of the UGC Regulations are available in the University website. 22. As per the directions issued by the Department of Higher Education (Universities), Govt. of Karnataka, Bengaluru vide letter No. ED 165 UKV 2016 dated 31.01.2017, the candidates who have been appointed prior to 01.04.2006 and presently covered under Old Pension Scheme, if got appointed will be covered under New Defined Pension Scheme. 23.
