REREGISTRATION PROCEDURES EXISTING SACAI DISTANCE EDUCATION PROVIDERS 1. Definition of a Distance Education Provider for registration purposes: a. Any institution that enrols Gr 10 to 12 learners for the NSC where tuition and learning is primarily off campus OR b. The institution enrols repeater candidates OR c. The institution enrols part time candidates for less than 7 subjects in the NSC. 2. Reregistration Application a. Complete the registration form b. Pay the registration application fee c. Apply for subjects to be offered d. Evidence of staff qualifications and an example of a service contract has to be provided e. The institution will receive an email of confirmation of receipt of application form. f. Distance Education Providers are required to conduct self-evaluation to ensure that the necessary policies and procedures are in place. The documentation is available on the SACAI website http:///register/criteria/. The self-evaluation forms can be submitted electronically to info@sacai.org.za or mbesseling@sacai.org.za. The self-evaluation process is FREE of charge. The date of completion for selfevaluation is 31 December 2018. DEPs who have completed self-evaluation forms in 2018, only need to resubmit any amendments. DEPs who have not submitted a self-evaluation in 2018, will have to submit a hard copy along with this registration. g. NO Site visits will be conducted prior to registration h. If learners for any Grades other than 10-12 are enrolled at the Centre, it is considered to be a SCHOOL and therefor the Centre must then comply with the legal requirements for registration as an Independent School. i. If the Centre enrols learners from only Grades 10-12 and operates as though it were a school, the registration requirements for an Independent School are applicable. A DEP is required to offer programmes off campus. 1
3. Final Registration a. The Distance Education Provider will receive an invoice for registration and a contract to be signed b. SACAI reserves the right to deny the registration of a distance education provider based on prior records of non-compliance. 4. Deregistration by SACAI Any Distance Education Provider can be deregistered if: The provider fails to comply with the expectations and requirements of: a. The provider fails to discharge its financial commitments to SACAI, or fails to comply with any or all of the School Based Assessment Programme and Requirements as outlined in the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) for specific subjects; the SACAI guidelines; the SACAI / UMALUSI moderation reports; the Regulations Pertaining to the Conduct, Administration and Management of Assessment for the National Senior Certificate; The National Policy Pertaining to the Programme and Promotion Requirements of the National Curriculum Statement Grades R-12; and The National Protocol for Assessment.
