1. LBS Centre for Science and Technology LBS Centre for Science and Technology (LBSCS &T) Thiruvananthapuram, the premier institute of computer training and consultancy, registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955 was established by Government of Kerala in 1976. The Centre was started by the Government of Kerala as an Autonomous body with the main objective that the Centre would act as a link between the industries and technical institutions so as to benefit society through their mutual interactions. The Centre is administered by a Governing Body and an Executive Committee. The Chief Minister, Government of Kerala is the Chairman of the Governing Body and the Minister for Education is the Vice-Chairman. The Principal Secretary for Higher Education is the Chairman of the Executive Committee and the Director of Technical Education is the Vice- Chairman of Executive Committee. There are two Self financing Engineering colleges under LBS Centre viz. LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod and LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram. 2. LBS Institute of Technology for Women(LBSITW) LBS Institute of Technology for Women is the second Engineering College managed by LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram started functioning in 2001. This is the first Engineering college for women in the state of Kerala and only Women Engineering college under Government Sector in the state. 3. Programs offered. a. B. TEQIP Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) was envisaged as a longterm program of about 10-12 years duration to be implemented in 2-3 phases for transformation of the Technical Education System with the World Bank assistance. LBSITW is a receipient of TEQIP funds from 2012 onwards. The academic and infrastructural facilities are enhanced and strengthened by the assistance from TEQIP - II. 6. Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU) CGPU is formed to bring the students and industrial fraternity on a common platform, thereby enhancing the scope for gainful employment of students. The unit is headed by a senior faculty member with representation from both students and staff. The CGPU helps in arranging industrial trainings, group discussions, entrepreneurship training etc. More than 80% of outgoing students are getting placement in reputed National and Multi National Companies. 7. Location The Institute is situated in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city at poojappura, which is 4kms from Trivandrum Central Railway Station and KSTRC Bus Station. The distance to Trivandrum International Airport is 8 kms and to Trivandrum Domestic Airport is 9 Kms. 3
8. Admission Procedure 15% of total seats are reserved for NRI quota admission. a. No. of seats under NRI quota. Sl. Eligibility Eligibility is as per the prospectus issued by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations Kerala for Admission 2015 2016. c. Age Applicant should complete 17 years of age as on 31-12-2015. No relaxation in the minimum age will be allowed. There is no upper age limit. d. Selection The selection of candidates will be based on the rank list prepared for the purpose observing the following criteria. i. Percentage of total marks obtained for the optional subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). ii. If there is a tie, the percentage of marks for Mathematics will be counted. iii. If there is still a tie, Percentage of Marks for Physics, Chemistry & total Marks in the qualifying examination will be counted in sequences. e. Fees and Refundable Deposit i. Fee and refundable deposit are as per government decision for Govt. self financing engineering colleges. ii. The candidate selected will be required to remit the annual tuition fee at the time of admission. iii. The admitted student is also required to remit the interest free refundable deposit at the time of admission. 4
iv. The admitted candidate will also be required to remit the university fee, affiliation fee, special fee, establishment charges, PTA fee etc. as per instructions from the head of the Institution at the time of admission. *V The fees once remitted will not be refunded. vi The fee and Deposit shall be paid in the form of DD issued in favour of The Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology payable at Thiruvananthapuram. *f Discontinuance of Course and levying of liquidated damages. If any candidate admitted against NRI seat discontinues the studies after the closing of admission for B. Tech Degree course by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala in the same academic year or in the subsequent academic years, she is liable to pay liquidated damages equal to the total fees payable for the remaining years of study. The refundable deposit remitted by the student will also be forfeited. g. How to apply. Application forms and prospectus can be had from the college office on payment of Rs. 750/- (Rupees Seven Hundred and Fifty only). The application can also be downloaded from the Institute Website(www.lbsitw.ac.in) and should be submitted along with a DD of Rs. 750/- (Rupees Seven Hundred and Fifty only) favoring the Principal, LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Poojappura payable at Thiruvananthapuram. The Filled up applications should reach the office of the Principal on or before 15/06/2015. h. Documents to be submitted along with the application. i. True copy of the Nativity Certificate (As per the Prospectus conditions issued by the CEE for admission to Professional courses). ii. True copy of the SSLC/equivalent certificate mentioning the date of birth of the applicant. iii. True copy of the certificate / mark list of qualifying examination iv. NRI Certificate: Candidates may produce any one of the following certificates. a. NRI Account No. (Certificates from the concerned bank.) b. Employment Certificate from the firm. c. Certificate from the Embassy Concerned. v. NRI Sponsorship in the format attached with the application. 5
