The theme is Everyone Belongs. Children are invited to wear their traditional or orange clothes on the day. Your child is most welcome to bring in any show and tell item pertaining to your culture to share with their class. It may include food as well. Parents and carers are also invited to share their knowledge with their child s class. However, you must arrange this with your child s class teacher. Orange ice cream spiders will be on sale for $1 at lunchtime near the BBQ area. PSSA Basketball Trials Congratulations to Jessiah Bamblett who travelled to Albury to trial for the Riverina PSSA Boys Basketball team on Thursday 15 th March. Jessiah gave it his best and displayed excellent sportsmanship, unfortunately he was not selected. We hope Jessiah continues with his basketball as he shows lots of talent. Well done Jessiah. PSSA Soccer Trials On Friday 16 th March Myles Guidolin and Nauman Bacha trialed for the Griffith PSSA Boys Soccer team. Both boys gave it their best and enjoyed the experience and Myles was selected in the team. Well done boys. Year 6 Jackets Every year, Year 6 have the opportunity to purchase a Year 6 jacket as a special memento of their final year of primary school. The jackets are in school colours and have the school emblem with the child's name on the front and a list of 2018 Year 6 students names on the back. No refunds or exchanges are possible so choose your size wisely. They are light weight and can be worn over the top of their school jumpers. Students have the opportunity to try on some sample jackets this week for sizing. The jackets are $65 each. All orders must be in, with full payment by Thursday 29th March. National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence On Friday students at GPS acknowledged that it was the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. Respect is one of our school values and is linked to everything we do at GPS. Last week students in Stage 3 classes participated in a webinar from the office of the esafety Commission called Imagine a future free from cyberbullying. Bullying. No Way! Cards were handed out to Year 3 to 6 students today. The cards provide students with information about what to do if they are being bullied, some phone numbers they can call if they need help and the website address www.bullyingnoway.gov.au which is full of fantastic resources. Stewart House envelopes are being sent home today. Please return them to the school by the end of Term 1 (13 th il). Thank you. Page 2
Parents & Citizens (P&C) Update The P&C meets about twice each term to discuss what is happening in the school and to raise money for GPS. Upcoming fundraisers include a raffle and our annual Mother s Day stall. Watch this space for more information! Everyone is welcome to come along to the next meeting, Monday 7th, 5:30pm in the office. We hope to see you there. Priscilla Guidolin & Melyssa Sarkis, P&C Presidents Coles Sports for School program Griffith Public School has registered in the 'Coles Sports for Schools' program again this year. Please start collecting your vouchers and send them in to the front office. There is a box there for collection. Ask family and friends to donate their vouchers to GPS as well. The more we collect the more sports equipment we can buy at the end of the program. It runs until 7th il so shop, shop, shop at Coles! Page 3
