After the students interview a staff member, they will be writing an article to share the information with the St. Francis community. For the first interview, the entire 5 th grade class had the opportunity to talk with Father James. Father James grew up in Stayton, Oregon which is about one hour from Sherwood. Stayton is much smaller than Sherwood and has a lot of farms. Father James attended Linn Benton Community College before he went into Mt. Angel Seminary. On June 8 th, 2013 he was ordained a priest. Father James really enjoys being a priest. His favorite part is that he doesn t feel that it s a job. He believes being a priest is what his whole life is and he loves to be with all the people throughout all stages of life. His favorite sacrament for himself is baptism because it s when his relationship began with God; however, his favorite sacrament to perform is reconciliation because of God s love and mercy. Father James favorite prayer is the Liturgy of the Hours. During Mass, he loves preaching because he loves to talk to the congregation. In his limited leisure time, Father James enjoys reading and riding his bike. His favorite book is the whole Harry Potter series. Father James recently adopted two 6 year old Chihuahuas named Lola and Benji. Please join us in welcoming Father James to the St. Francis community.

Safety in carline and changes for next week Safety is as simple as ABC - Always Be Careful. ~Author Unknown The safety of all children is very important to us. For the safety of the children please be mindful of these three areas. During morning drop off please remain in the car with your child until you reach the double doors. Mrs. Jolibois is there every morning beginning at 7:50 to help ensure the children get out of their cars and into the building safely. If your child will be entering the school through the office doors please park before letting your child out. Cars should not pass any other cars in carline. Please remember children are exiting their cars from both sides and it is not safe to pass. The flow of traffic for carline is one way. Please go around the church to enter carline. Cars should not enter carline near the gym. Thank you for your attention to these areas. Morning Care and Drop Off Changes for October 19 th 23 rd Morning Care will be in the Parish Hall all week beginning Monday. Morning drop-off for students will be at the north double doors to the Parish Hall. Students will gather in the Parish Hall before school beginning at 7:50.
