After the students interview a staff member, they will be writing an article to share the information with the St. Francis community. For the first interview, the entire 5 th grade class had the opportunity to talk with Father James. Father James grew up in Stayton, Oregon which is about one hour from Sherwood. Stayton is much smaller than Sherwood and has a lot of farms. Father James attended Linn Benton Community College before he went into Mt. Angel Seminary. On June 8 th, 2013 he was ordained a priest. Father James really enjoys being a priest. His favorite part is that he doesn t feel that it s a job. He believes being a priest is what his whole life is and he loves to be with all the people throughout all stages of life. His favorite sacrament for himself is baptism because it s when his relationship began with God; however, his favorite sacrament to perform is reconciliation because of God s love and mercy. Father James favorite prayer is the Liturgy of the Hours. During Mass, he loves preaching because he loves to talk to the congregation. In his limited leisure time, Father James enjoys reading and riding his bike. His favorite book is the whole Harry Potter series. Father James recently adopted two 6 year old Chihuahuas named Lola and Benji. Please join us in welcoming Father James to the St. Francis community.
