We welcome back Miss E Smith to her role as Leader for Years 10 and 11 following a period of maternity leave. Mrs Bond also leaves us following a period of extended illness and we wish her well for the future. I am delighted that we were able to interview and appoint a new Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) earlier this week and I will provide more details at a later date. Our new SENCO will start in September. Maria Miller MP Maria Miller made a brief visit to Aldworth yesterday to discuss promoting education in Basingstoke and we are working with her and some other secondary schools in the town on providing more information and guidance at the secondary transfer stage. Maria has been a supporter of Aldworth over the last couple of years and has taken part in a couple of projects here with students. Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and enjoy the extra day on Monday! Best wishes Mr McCabe I am pleased to report that the building works are progressing to schedule. We anticipate the majority of the work being completed by the beginning of September but work will continue into the autumn term. A reminder that the re-cladding process will replace all external windows, doors and walls as well as a new roof. Internally we will be refurbishing the ground floor which will include two n e w classrooms and additional multi-purpose hall and a second main entrance/exit to the building. I will keep you updated as the works progress and can assure you that this will be a worthwhile wait for another excellent facility at Aldworth. Mr Bramwell
(Continued from page 1) YEAR 11 STUDY LEAVE ARRANGEMENTS AND IMPORTANT DATES Friday 6 May 2016: 8.45am Exam Preparation Assembly We will be continuing with a normal timetable until May half term (Monday 31 May to Friday 3 June 2016). Students will be supported in their revision by their class teachers and sit any examinations that arise in that time. Clearly school based revision will be most effective if combined with additional private study at home. Monday 6 June to Monday 27 June 2016 Partial Study Leave For three weeks after half term students will be on a partial study leave timetable. This means that when they have finished their final exam for a subject they no longer need to attend that lesson. They therefore have two options during that lesson:- Continue to attend the lesson and complete private study/revision for other subjects Sign out of school to study at home (students must sign in on their return for lessons in which they still have examinations) A reminder to students that they must go to their timetabled classroom if in school to revise and study, other areas of the school are not supervised or suitable. Wednesday 22 June: 11.30am Leavers Assembly in Main Hall Students do not need to be in school uniform for the Leavers Assembly but must be in smart/business dress for this formal event. Students sitting the Physics exam on this morning may wear smart/business wear to the exam. Wednesday 22 June: 6.00pm 6.30pm Leavers Prom, Oakley Hall Arrival between 6.00pm 6.30pm.
