Teacher Login Teachers & Administrators Bookmark bar dropdown menu Login with your Google credentials The first time you login to GoGuardian you will have 2 different items to agree to. Dashboard The dashboard displays all active Classrooms. Click the Archived tab will display any archived classes. Click the 3 lines button (upper left) to switch classes or return to the Dashboard. Creating Classes 1. Click the Green +Add Classroom button 2. Fill in a unique Classroom Name 3. Filling in a description and a color are optional 4. Click the Add Classroom button To Rename a class 1. Select the class 2. Click settings 3. Change the name 4. Click Save 3 ways add students to a class The CSV import option works the best because it does not require the students to do anything. Creating Sessions Scheduling Sessions When a new class is created you have the option of creating session start and stop time. When you create a schedule the monitoring sessions will automatically start and stop based on the class times you have created. The maximum class time is 6 hours, when you change the start time, the end times will change. Take add or change a session schedule 1. Select the class from the Classroom link 2. Click the SETTINGS tab 3. Click the Scheduling tab 4. Click the Green Add Schedule button Instructional Technology Page 4

Starting a Session 1. Select the length of the sessions a. These are preset times but can be adjusted if needed 2. Exclude any students that are absent a. This is not required 3. Click the start sessions buttons 4. Students get a start session message flash in the lower right corner and the notification window becomes active. Ending a Session 1. Click the End Session button Hovering over the Time Remaining button makes the Update Session Time button available. Extending a Session 1. Click the Update Session Time button 2. Click the preset minute buttons 3. Click Update Session Setting an exact ending time 1. Click the Update Session Time button 2. Change the end time in the time box to an exact end time 3. Click Update Session Viewing a Previous Session The timeline data is archived so you can go back to any previous session by clicking the sessions tab and select the session you want to view from the list. You can see what commands you gave your class and if the student was on or off task. Instructional Technology Page 5

Viewing Activity There are two views of students activity, the timeline view and screen viewer. Clicking the Timelines or Screens link in the drop down menu allows you to switch between the two different views. Student names can be sorted by First Name, Last Name or Connected. Connected moves the students who are not logged in to the bottom. The Screen Viewer displays a real time display of what your students are working on. It automatically launces in detail view, where you can see the all of the tabs the student has open. A slider bar in the top right allows you to choose how many student screens are displayed on your dashboard. Clicking on a picture will enlarge the screen for a closer look at what they are working on. From here you can close any open tabs by clicking on the X. The student will receive a message that a tab was closed by the teacher. Closing a tab does not keep them from reopening it. The links under the screen are hot links. The Timeline view allows you to see which tabs the students are viewing. Each row shows all of the student s activity in real time. Clicking in the Now column will display what the student is viewing right now. Clicking any point in the timeline will display which tab they were on, and how long they were on it, as well as any other tabs they had open. Instructional Technology Page 6

Managing your class with Commands Open Tab Button This will send a link to all of your students in a new window to a student or to the whole class. This can be a website or even a Google Document (don t forget to manage the share settings). 1. Selecting individual students or entire class will make the Open Tab button appear 2. Click the Open Tab button 3. Paste the URL Note: If you want each student to have their own copy or a Google Doc, change the end of the URL from edit to copy. Select the student screen a. Timeline view click the Now column b. Screen View click the student screen c. Click the Download Screen Shot icon d. Click the Snapshots icon in the Session View Menu Bar to access the screen shots e. The Snapshots are saved as jpg s which can be attached in an email. Instructional Technology Page 7

Attention Mode This will disable browsing. Students are still able to access any tabs that are open tabs, but would not be able to refresh or access new sites. This activity is still visible in Timeline view. 1. Selecting the entire class will make the Lock button available 2. Click the Lock button 3. Type a message if want 4. Click Lock Devices a. The student devices will receive this m essage 5. To unlock screens 6. Selecting the entire class will make the Unlock button available a. Click the Unlock button To lock and unlock an individual student 1. In Screen Viewer mode click the lock icon in the individual student header Notes: Teachers are unable to block specific sites. Use the Eduphoria helpdesk ticket system to request a site to be blocked. Instructional Technology Page 8

Screen Sharing This will allow you to grab a student s screen and display through the projector. 1. Select individual student s screen 2. Click the enlarge arrows in the bottom right corner of the window 3. No student information is displayed 4. Click ESC to leave the student view Archived Session Data Every monitoring session is archived. Every screen shot and command that you gave during that session is archived. To access that information 1. Select the class the archived sessions will appear 2. Click on a session 3. The time line view of the session will display 4. Click on a section of a student s timeline will display all of the student s open tabs 5. From the Timlines dropdown box select Snapshots a. All of the Snapsots that were taken during that session will display b. Download the snapshot if necessary 6. From the Timlines dropdown box select Command Log a. All of the Commands (unlock, lock, open and close tab) that were Instructional Technology Page 9

givenduring that session will display Adding or Removing a Teacher in a Classroom Teachers, Aides, can be added to or removed from an existing class only IF they have a Teacher account in GoGuardian. While on your Classroom page 1. Click the Settings tab 2. Click the Teacher link to see what teachers are assigned to the class To add a teacher Click on the Add Teacher button to open a popup menu Type in the teachers name Select their role from the drop down menu Click the Add button To remove a teacher Click on the Teachers name Click on the remove icon to the right of the Teacher s name Click the red remove button Only long term substitues will have access to GoGuardian. Troubleshooting 1. Students don t appear in the classroom a. make sure the Chromebook does not need to be updated b. make sure the Chromebook is on the Forney ISD wireless c. If the student is not on a Chromebook, make sure the student is logged into the Chrome browser. Their name should appear in the top right, if you see a small head they are not logged to Chrome. To log in click the head and use their school gmail address and password. Support Center Click the Blue Question mark to access the Help Support Center where you can search for a topic or submit a ticket.
