Although I have only been here a short while, so many wonderful things have taken place during the year and I would like to make a special mention of them. Victorian College for the Deaf has almost completed a school review. This has provided the college an opportunity to reflect on practice and to plan ahead for the best possible outcomes for our students. The Hands-on Learning (HOL) program has provided our students with the opportunity to work alongside Deaf Children Australia to build the set for Halloween at the Blue Stone. This was a true community event and we are all extremely proud of the HOL team s involvement. 2018 Camps saw the Senior Years travel to Lorne. They participated in team building activities to develop and work on social cohesion. The Middle Years jumped on a bus and headed for Mount Bogong giving the year 7 s an opportunity to develop new friendships. The Primary Years hit the slopes over winter for fun filled days of skiing and snowman making. Primary Years have been working with Polyglot to produce an upcoming production, WATCH THIS SPACE We have extended our pathways programs to include a bike workshop. Middles Years have worked to establish the workshop space in preparation for the delivery of the VET Bike Mechanical Technology in 2019. We have also been working hard with the Inner Melbourne Vet Cluster (IMVC) to bring about greater accessibility and inclusion for our senior students in a range of Senior VET Programs. Term four sports day was met with a healthy rivalry! Our two sport teams High (Green) beat Punt (Red). Congratulations to High for the win! 2019 will see the College offer even greater student choice. The staff are currently planning for the provision of Clubs on a Thursday afternoon. We are investigating new subject electives such as Pre- Driver Education, Youth and the Law, and expanding our expertise with careers education, work experience programs and pathways counselling. I am excited for our students as we continue to enrich our curriculum and provide a learning environment that prioritises language and literacy attainment matching curriculum to student needs in an inclusive environment. Looking forward to 2019 and exciting times ahead. Marg Tope, Acting Principal
