Call to Order President A., called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. B. Rodney Barr opened the meeting with prayer. C. Nancy Hahn led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. D. Introductions were made around the room. E. Approval of Agenda A motion was made by Loy Kesner, seconded by Nancy Hahn, to approve the agenda. II. Presentation A. Music and Technology Presentation Ann Funkhouser, music teacher at EHEMS, presented to the Board information regarding innovative strategies through technology in music to implement the content standards and objectives. Mrs. Funkhouser presented to the Board a project-based learning module she uses in her classes. III. Consent Items A. Board Minutes July 5, 2011 B. Bank Reconciliation June 30, 2011 C. Treasurer s Report June 30, 2011 D. Cash and Investment Ledger June 30, 2011 E. Transportation Request On the motion of Loy Kesner, seconded by Rodney Barr, the Board approved the consent items.

Page 2 IV. Unfinished Business A. EHHS/MHS Building Projects V. New Business Barbara Whitecotton reported to the Board on the EHHS/MHS building projects. The initial meeting went well with planning. New committee members were identified. Stumbling blocks and concerns were identified. A. Extra-Curricular and Curricular Trip Charges Barbara Whitecotton recommended leaving trip charges at the current rate of $2.00 per mile and $17.00 per hour for drivers for extra-curricular trips. On the motion of Nancy Hahn, seconded by Rodney Barr, the Board approved to leave trip charges at the current rate of $2.00 per mile and $17.00 per hour for drivers for extra-curricular trips. B. Professional Hiring Matrix The Board approved the hiring matrix for new applicants with a point value of one for each criteria with the exception of the criteria that reads other measures or indicators to judge applicants. This seventh criteria will be awarded two points. The basic academic achievement level will be awarded a point value of one with at least a 3.0 GPA. The administrative and permanent employee matrix remains the same. On the motion of Nancy Hahn, seconded by Rodney Barr, the Board approved the adjustments to the hiring matrix. C. Opening Day Information The Board made plans for providing breakfast for the employees on opening day. Breakfast will be served at MHS beginning at 6:00 a.m. D. In County/Out of County Transfers On the motion of Loy Kesner, seconded by Rodney Barr, the Board approved the following In County/Out of County transfers. V.H. from Hampshire County to EHEMS K.A. from Hampshire County to EHEMS J.K. from East Hardy High School to MHS

Eastern WV Community and Technical College On the motion of Loy Kesner, seconded by Rodney Barr, the Board approved the Memorandum of Agreement and the contract on Early Entrance Students with EWVCTC. Mission Statements/Accomplishments Nancy Hahn commended Carol Ann Funkhouser, Richard Hulver, Jessica Perdue, and Rebecca King on receiving their Masters Degree from WVU. Mrs. Hahn also commended Cody Funkhouser on his position as a State FFA Officer. Loy Kesner commended Kathy Hardy for her excellent work. Rodney Barr thanked Hardy Telecommunications for the services they provide for the students in our schools. Mr. Barr also thanked the business partners for their help. Kathy Hardy commended David Taylor for winning the Middle School compact driving for the state and Anthony Andrews on his second place win. Mrs. Hardy also commended Michael Thomas, Tanner Carr, and Mitchell Martin for winning first place in their categories in the FFA AgriScience Fair. These individuals will compete in the National competition. Also commended were the Quiz Bowl Team for their second place, Opening Ceremony Team for second place, and the Scrapbook Team, second place. Barbara Whitecotton encouraged Avery Anderson to continue with his work as principal at MHS.

Personnel On the motion of Rodney Barr, seconded by Loy Kesner, the Board approved the following: Professional Hiring: Tamara Kesner: Fifth Grade Teacher, MIS Service Personnel Hirings: Janet Flinn: Cook II, MES Cheré Link: Cook II, EHEMS and EHHS Travis Weatherholtz: Bus Operator, Dove Hollow Road, State Park Road to Route 259, Mongold Road, portion of Route 259 from Mathias to East Hardy Schools, Grover Smith Hollow, and Funkhouser Road Lisa Crites: Supervisory Aide II, Countywide, for Special Education to begin at MIS Athletic Hiring: Gelia Ours: Athletic Trainer, MHS, pending certification On the motion of Rodney Barr, seconded by Nancy Hahn, the Board approved the following: Approved Transfer: Transfer Jacqueline Duncan from Kindergarten teacher at MES to classroom teacher at MES Approved Postings: English/Language Arts, Theatre, Advanced Communication at EHHS, ½ time position Cook II at MES, MIS, MMS, MHS, EHEMS, EHHS paid by Ed Job Funds, one year positions (6 positions, 1 position at each school) Secretary III, Central Office, ½ time position, paid by Ed Job Funds, one year position On the motion of Nancy Hahn, seconded by Loy Kesner, the Board approved the following: Approved Posting: Assistant Principal, MES, ½ time position
