REMEMBRANCE 2014 Who will your family remember on Remembrance Day? If you have someone special in your family who served in the Frist World War we would love to hear about them. Please send in any photos or memorabilia either this week or the first week back after the holiday. We are having an exhibition about World War 1 on Wednesday 5th November from 10 a.m. The children will be able to view artefacts and information all day. All former pupils from Heyhouses who gave their lives in the war will be commemorated at this event. We would like to remember their sacrifice and bravery and ensure another generation understands the huge suffering that war inflicts. We also hope to display information received from our current pupils. Poppies are on sale in both departments. We ask that the children bring a minimum of 20p to buy a poppy. All the money goes towards the work of The Royal British Legion. Some of the Junior children will once again be marking Remembrance Day by attending the War Memorial in Ashton Gardens on Tuesday 11th November. The children of Year 5 and 6 will lay the wreath on behalf of former pupils of Heyhouses who gave their lives in the service of their country. We are also encouraging the children to put their uniforms on this Sunday and represent Heyhouses at all the major acts of Remembrance in our local community. Members of staff are attending at different locations and are happy for children to be with them. The services are at St Annes Parish Church at 10:30. a.m., the War Memorial in Ashton Gardens at 10:45 a.m. and at St Margaret s at 9:50 a.m., ready for the act of remembrance at 11a.m. Hopefully the children will learn from these occasions the true meaning of war, both the loss and the heroism, and the sacrifices so many made on our behalf will not be forgotten.
