We thank all the important women in our lives who support, love and cherish us. Thank you for supporting the P&C Mother s Day stall and school raffle. The children had many lovely gifts to choose from. Thank you for all the donations. Congratulations to Neo, Tash and Hunter who won prizes in the raffle. Welcome to Week 3, as usual the weeks are flying by and we have lots happening over the next 4 5 weeks. Students in Yr 3 and 5 will participate in this week (language conventions, writing, reading and numeracy). Students have been looking at past papers, working on understanding how to answer the vast array of questions and developing their writing technique. If you or your child are worried or have any questions about this week please speak to your child s class teacher. Tuesday Language Conventions and Writing Wednesday Reading Thursday Numeracy Students not participating in will continue with their daily studies. School Maintenance Work The painters have completed all their prep work on ABlock (Wallabies classroom) and have begun their many weeks of painting. Wednesday will see the start of replacing the roof. We are also a part of Connecting Country Schools initiative from the Department, which means upgrades to our existing Wi Fi and expansions made so our students can continue their learning outside, with the installation of new external Wi Fi ports. Student Reports Student reports will be heading home during Week 9. This Semester you will note a slight change to the layout. We are hoping the new format will give you a clear indication of what your child is achieving and working towards, based on their Stage level outcomes. They will continue to have a level for effort and achievement as in in all previous reports. We will seek your opinion of the new format early next term, before the end of year reports are due. Smoke In Broke We are seeking the assistance of our school and wider community at this June long weekend event in Broke. If you, family members or friends can help man our stalls for an hour or two please return the attached note.

It s a fantastic opportunity to promote our amazing school while raising funds towards the expansion of our library book selection, technology and other school and P&C initiatives. We need as much help as possible. Thank you in advance for supporting your child, school and community. P&C Meeting Our next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday 22 nd May under the COLA area. This coincides with the soccer Kenny is running. We hope to see a few more faces, ideas and collaboration. We would love to see you there if you can make it and are interested in joining the P&C group. Thinking of others Ellie and Ben will be hosting 2 events this term to help raise funds for the John Hunter Children s Hospital. Ellie s crazy sock day will be held on Friday 25 th May. Students can wear as crazy and colourful socks as they can find and bring in a gold coin donation. Information of the second event will be sent closer to the date. It is wonderful to see some of our students wanting to support such great causes, I am very proud to be the Principal of such amazing students. School Uniform The P&C would like to add some additional choice items to our school uniform. Having and wearing a school uniform is an important aspect of school. It unites our students and shows pride. Remember, we do have a clothing pool at school; pop in and see Tash if you need anything. P & C Association News : A big thank you goes out to the parents, carers and local community for the amazing donations made towards our Mother s Day stall on Friday, 11 th May. The students were all so excited when choosing their gifts for their mother s and loved ones, as we had so many beautiful gifts available. I hope you were all able to relax and spend some time with your loved ones for Mother s Day. Our annual Mother s Day stall would not run each year without our helpers who purchase extra goods for the stall and help to organise and run the stall on the day. Thank you to Mrs Burley, Tash, Miss Hedley, Christel, Jacqueline and Broni for helping us out this year! The canteen continues to open Monday s and Friday s. If you need a Term 2 canteen menu, please see the office for a copy. Thank you to Alix and her team for all their hard work in keeping the canteen up and running. Our school wine is just about ready for labelling. We are going over the final touches of the label and then it will be sent for production. We are currently organising a stall for Smoke in Broke on 9 th and 10 th of June. We will be putting a call out for volunteers ASAP to help on the day. If you can volunteer any of your time to help out, please see one of our P & C team members. The P & C will once again be supporting this year s Milbrodale Mountain Classic with their BBQ catering on July 14 th and 15 th (middle of the school holidays). We are all very excited to be able to participate again this year and are in the planning stages. We will be discussing this more in depth at our P & C meetings, so come a long and join in! Just a reminder the P & C Association will hold their next general meeting on Tuesday, 22 nd May at approximately 3:10pm within the school grounds. Hope to see our current financial members, and any new members wanting to join in. Candice Corrie President

Bilbies Class News The Bilbies have been working very hard this term! We have been learning exciting concepts in Maths, such as 3D shapes, fractions, counting forwards and backwards from a given number, Friends of 10 and Friends of 20. The Kindergarten children are learning what is involved in writing a sentence, and are becoming experts at identifying full stops, capital letters, and camera words. Year 1 are learning to independently write sentences, using their knowledge of phonemes, camera words and sentence structure. Some students are writing many sentences at once! In PDHPE, the Bilbies are learning about hygiene and staying healthy, and have begun learning fundamental movement skills, such as throwing and catching. In Project Based Learning, we have combined with the Koalas to complete our final two outcomes for our recycling project. The Bilbies and Koalas are designing a poster explaining the negative effects of not recycling; and creating a video demonstrating various ways to recycle.
