Hewlett-Packard Company The Municipality of/la Municipalit é de St.-Charles NOUVELLES DE ST.-CHARLES nouvelles de St. -Charles Newsletter Newsletter Date Inside this issue: Municipal Elections/ Les élections municipales Council News / Nouvelles du conseil St-Charles Public Library / Bibliothèque publique de St.-Charles Economic Development/ développement économique Crossword / mots croisés Trivia / bagatelles Parks and Recreation Wall of Fame 2-3 4 6-7 9-10 15 16 34-35 Back Cover From the Mayor s Office / Du Bureau du Maire I would like to give a update on the proposed granite quarry license transfer in our municipality.the proponents held their town hall meeting on November 30th, 2013 concerning the project. Council heard the pros and cons from all those that attended. I have personally also attended workshops related to pits and quarries,to gather information on all aspects involved on such a operation. After extensive research and discussions, council came to the decision that the liabilities were too great for this project. On March 19th, 2014 council passed a resolution not supporting the transfer.the MNR has stated that license 20562 will not be transferred and will be terminated.

Welcome to the childhood of Catherine McClure Gildiner. At the tender age of four, Cathy accompanies Roy, the deliveryman at her father's pharmacy, on his routes. She shares some of their memorable deliveries: sleeping pills to Marilyn Monroe (in town filming Niagara), sedatives to Mad Bear, a violent Tuscarora chief, and fungus cream to Warty, the gentle operator of the town dump. As she reaches her teenage years, Cathy's irrepressible spirit spurs her from dangerous sled rides that take her "too close to the Falls" to tipsy dances with the town priest. This book generated a lot of controversy among our readers. Next month's read is "Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern. If interested in joining us call Nicole at 705-867- 5332.
