It has been a great start to the year with many of our students making the right choices on a daily basis whilst aiming to be an Ambarvale All Star. Meet, Greet and Eat Thank you to all the parents, carers and community members who attended out Meet, Greet and Eat in Week 3. It was a great afternoon and I hope that those who came along were able to walk away with some valuable information about their child s class and the year ahead. Community Liaison Officers Just a reminder that we are lucky enough to have two community liaison officers, Jessica Jones and Amanda Kelly, who are here for our whole school community. If you require any support, please do not hesitate to come and chat with Jess or Amanda. They are a valuable resource and come with knowledge and experiences to support in a variety of ways. School Uniform- The Team Ambarvale Spirit I would like to say a big thank you to everybody who has been wearing his or her school uniform. When looking across the whole school assembly yesterday, it was great to see the sea of green where so many of our students were in full school uniform. As mentioned in the previous newsletter, white and plain green polo shirts are not school uniform. It is important that our students are in full school uniform every day in order to make them feel part of the Ambarvale team. We do sell school shorts and skorts from our uniform shop, along with our newly introduced sports shorts. The sports shorts can be purchased for $18 and are expected to be worn on days that your child s class are doing sports activities. Bottle green shorts and skorts can also be purchased from retail stores such as Big W, Target, Best n Less etc. Week 5 High School Forms High school forms will be going out next week to all Year 6 students. All forms need to be returned to school no later than Friday 16 th ch. If you have any questions regarding high school, please contact Mrs Jelic who is our Stage 3 supervisor. Mrs Gower Our previous newsletter outlined the roles of all of our staff members for 2018. Somehow, Mrs Gower didn t appear on this list. Mrs Gower is our EALD teacher who will be supporting our students who speak a language other than English within the home or who have recently moved to Australia from a non-english speaking country. She will also be working in our Kindergarten classes and teaching KW and KR whilst Ms West and Mrs Riley are in the office as part of the Assistant Principal roles. Mrs Green s Tip I feel that it is important to stay connected with your child s learning and experiences. When your child/children come home from school, try asking them a few simple questions that will hopefully give you a bit of an insight into their school day. As a busy mum of 3 young children, I always ask my kids the following questions when I see them after a busy day at work- How was your day? Who did you play with? Did you learn anything new today? What was the favourite part of your day? Is there anything you would like to change about your day if you could? I wish you an enjoyable week ahead. Until next time, Mrs K Green

Ambarvale PS appreciates your support. STAFF PROFILE Hello to all Ambarvale staff, parents and students. My name is Cagla Dincsoy and I am proud to say that I have joined the wonderful team of teachers at Ambarvale Public School. For the past 4 weeks, I have had the pleasure of teaching my very own class, which is 5/6D. The start of Term 1 has been a great success so far and I am excited to see what lies ahead throughout the term. As a new face at the school, there may be lots of questions and curiosity, as to who I am. In a few short, sharp yet sweet words I can say that I am a friendly person who is always smiling and has a positive outlook on life. My cultural background is Turkish and one of the values I love to practise is promoting cultural diversity and respect. Each morning, in 5/6D we begin our day by saying gunaydin to one another, which is good morning in Turkish. I should also mention that I am a massive bookworm and when I am not teaching, you can finding me engrossed in a book just about anywhere, anytime. If you do see me around the school, please come by and say hello. I am always up for a chat and I look forward to working with you all, so that I can provide the best education for your child. SCHOOL PHOTOS School Photos are in Week 11: Wednesday 11 th of April. Please ensure that your child is wearing their full school uniform on the day. Envelopes will be sent home shortly to place orders for photos. Please send your child with the envelope and money on the day of school photos. Thank you, Ms Tucci

LIBRARY CHAT Library days for classes have now been finalised. Most classes have two different days, one on odd weeks and one on even weeks. It will be difficult for children to remember, so perhaps write it on a calendar at home, or send them back on the same day every week. For example, if library is on Monday in odd weeks, and on Wednesday in even weeks, and your child brings their library bag every Monday, they will bring it home on either Monday or Wednesday, and the class teacher can mind library bags in even weeks. Library days are as follows: Class Odd weeks Even Weeks KM Thursday Thursday KR Tuesday Tuesday KW Wednesday Wednesday 1B Monday Wednesday 1/2W Wednesday Thursday 2T Tuesday Tuesday K-2T Thursday Thursday 2-6G Monday Thursday 3O Thursday Monday 3/4N Tuesday Wednesday 4H Thursday Thursday 5F Monday Wednesday 5/6D Wednesday Tuesday 6C Thursday Monday 2-6S Wednesday Wednesday 3-6H Wednesday Wednesday Remember that I am always happy for children to change their books before or after school or at recess or lunch. SWIMMING CARNIVAL On Thursday 22 nd of February we had our swimming carnival. It was a great day had by all. Each and every student that attended brought their competitive drive, sportsmanship and their Ambarvale All Star behaviour and all teachers and attending community members were so proud of their behaviour and attitudes. Well done to all students involved! This year saw four students break Ambarvale Public school records. Congratulations to Aitor Vispe, Jeremy Ivkovitch, Abbey Whicker and Erin Sunners.
