MINUTES BOARD OF EDUCATION ELIZABETH CITY-PASQUOTANK PUBLIC SCHOOLS August 22, 2016 The Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, August 22, 2016, 7:13 p.m., in the Board Room of the Administration Building. The following Board members were present and constituted a quorum: Mr. Barry Overman, Chairman Ms. Sharon Warden, Vice Chair Mr. Harvey Beasley Mrs. Virginia Houston Mr. Walter Jolly Mrs. Pam Pureza Dr. Denauvo Robinson The following Central Office and District staff members were present: Dr. Larry W. Cartner, Superintendent Mr. Steve Lassiter, Assistant Superintendent Mr. Andrew Cox, Chief Financial Officer Ms. Tammy W. Sawyer, Community Schools Director/Public Information Officer I. Meeting Called to Order by Chair Chairman Overman called the meeting to order. II. Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence Jamison Fletcher and Arianna Sylvester, River Road Middle School students, led members and guests in the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Cartner led members and guests in a Moment of Silence. III. Approval of Agenda (Action) A motion was made by Virginia Houston, seconded by Sharon Warden, and unanimously carried to approve the agenda as presented. IV. Recognition of Guests Chairman Overman recognized guests present. V. Superintendent s Report Dr. Cartner provided copies of the district newsletter Let s Connect ECPPS News & Information to members. 1

Dr. Cartner reminded members of the NCSBA Fall District Meeting scheduled for September 7, 2016, 4:00-8:00 p.m. in Weldon City. VI. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Pam Pureza, seconded by Walter Jolly, and unanimously carried to approve the minutes of July 25, 2016 (regular meeting) and August 15, 2016 (committee meetings). VII. Consent Agenda Board members briefly discussed fee waivers related to the Technology Insurance/Maintenance Plan with Superintendent Cartner. He assured Board members that the goal would be for principals to get a device in the hands of students. A motion was made by Walter Jolly, seconded by Virginia Houston, and unanimously carried to approve the consent agenda items as follow: Policy 1. Policy Series 6000, Part A (Support Services) 2.
