Dorothy has been working for The Learning Center as an accounting tutor for the past three years and is earning this honor because of her hard work, dedication, and talent. Over the years Dorothy has worked numerous one-to-one tutoring sessions. She not only tutors the basic accounting Dorothy Rabuano courses but assists with upper level accounting tutoring as well. This semester she is working with a number of students who are taking upper level accounting courses and we know they appreciate her help. She also is working most of the accounting walk-in sessions to help students with a variety of questions and concerns. The Learning Center welcomes our new Office Manager, Jill Judd and new Graduate Assistant, Chris Calo. Jill joins the Learning Center with over six years of experience within various departments throughout campus. Her primary responsibilities include budget maintenance, student payroll, and office efficiency. Her educational background includes courses in the accounting and business administration fields. Outside of the University, Jill and her husband Mike enjoy staying active and continued on page 5

The increased attendance in Other Math courses for both of the walk-in tutoring charts reflect students having a choice for their first math course. The decrease in Math 13 attendance is a result of the fewer sections offered due to this change as 1 sections were offered in Fall 11 with 5 sections offered in Fall 1. Writing has also experienced an increase in regards to the number of visits and students served for walk-in tutoring. The business subject areas fluctuated across the board with Information Technology (IT) and Economics demonstrating the greatest increase in attendance for walk-in tutoring. One-to-one tutoring has incorporated new subject areas such as International Business, Business Law, Organizational Leadership, and topics from the School of Arts and Sciences. Chris is one of The Learning Center s Graduate Assistants who focuses on assistance with applying Information Technology and Digital Simulation to learning and scholastic excellence. He also assists with mathematics courses, with a focus on Statistics and Discrete Mathematics as well as applied Pre- Calculus. Chris graduated with a double major in Information Technology and Game Design and Development in 11, during which time he was a tutor, lab assistant, and structured study group leader in Statistics, programming, and business I.T. courses. His main goals are to demystify Information Technology and Mathematics for non-technical students and provide tools and assistance to technical students who wish to learn more. Chris is currently working toward a Master of Science in Information Technology Degree. Welcome to The Learning Center staff, Jill and Chris!
