Five Years Integrated Degree Programmes 2018 2019 INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES 1) PROGRAMMES OF STUDY Five year Integrated Programmes leading to (1) M.Sc. (Computer Science) / M.Sc. (Information Technology) (2) M.Sc. (Electronic Media) degree are offered at the University Departments of Anna University (College of Engineering Guindy Campus) Chennai - 600 025 under Self-Supporting Scheme. 2) DURATION Five academic years comprising ten semesters. 3) ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION a) M.Sc. (Computer Science) / M.Sc. (Information Technology) A pass in HSC (Academic), in the first appearance itself, with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as three of the four subjects of study prescribed under Part - III or its equivalent with a minimum average mark of 50 % for OC, 45 % for BC, BC (Muslim), 40 % for MBC & DNC and SC/SCA/ST category. The average mark refers to the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together. b) M.Sc. Electronic Media Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of 10+2 Curriculum of any group under Part - III or any other Examination of any University (or) authority approved by Anna University, as equivalent there to. 4) AGE The candidate should not have completed 21 years of age as on 01.07.2018. The age is relaxable by 3 years, only for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu. Candidates appeared for the Qualifying Examination in March / April 2018 may also apply for admission. 5) REGISTRATION OF APPLICATION Candidates desirous of applying for (1) M.Sc. (Computer Science) / M.Sc. (Information Technology) and (2) M.Sc. (Electronic Media) should register application separately for each programme. 6) NATIVITY a) Candidates who have studied 5 years continuously (from VIII standard onwards) in Tamil Nadu will be considered as Tamil Nadu candidates. Candidates who are native of Tamil Nadu but have passed any of the VIII / IX / X / XI / XII standard examinations from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu have to produce the Nativity Certificate obtained only in electronic form / digitally signed e-certificate obtained from the Tahsildar / Zonal Deputy Tahsildar of their Native Taluk / District of Tamil Nadu for considering them as Tamil Nadu Candidate. 1
b) Tamil Nadu Native candidates alone will be considered for communal reservation under six categories namely BC, BCM (BC Muslim), MBC / DNC, SC, SCA & ST and the list of communities eligible for communal reservation is given in the Annexure. The applicants from Tamil Nadu State should have obtained permanent community certificate (for SC/SCA/ST/MBC & DNC, BC and BC Muslim candidates) either in permanent card format or electronic form / digitally signed e-certificate only from the authorities given below on or before the last date prescribed for registration of application. Community Certificate obtained after the last date prescribed for registration of applications will not be considered. Community Scheduled Tribe Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyars) Backward Class / Backward Class (Muslim) / Most Backward Class / Denotified Communities Issuing Authority Revenue Divisional Officer or Sub-Collector of their native place (except Chennai) or P.A. (General) to Collector of Chennai. The Community Certificate card issued by Tahsildars upto 11.11.1989 is valid. Tahsildar of Native Taluk of the candidate Headquarters Deputy Tahsildar / Zonal Deputy Tahsildar / Deputy Tahsildar (Certificates) Community Certificates obtained from Other States will not be considered for communal reservation. For communities linked with districts the candidate should obtain their community certificate in their respective district. Community certificates obtained from other than their respective district will not be considered. However, the candidates who belong to BC, MBC and DNC communities in a particular district and migrated to other places in Tamil Nadu and obtained community certificates from competent authorities in the migrated district on or after 28.10.2009, will be considered. (as per G.O. (St) No. 95 BC, MBC & Minorities Welfare Department, dated 28.10.2009). Candidates who have not uploaded self attested photocopy of the Permanent Community card certificate or in electronic form / digitally signed e-certificate at the time of registration of the application will be treated under Open Competition (OC) category. In the event of such a decision, the eligibility conditions and rules prescribed for OC category will be applicable for such candidates and if such candidates do not satisfy the rules of OC, their applications are liable to be rejected. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained. c) Seats are reserved for Differently abled persons as per Government of Tamil Nadu Norms. The Competent Authority to issue Disability Certificate shall be a District Medical Board duly constituted by the State Government. The District Medical Board shall consist of a minimum of three Members (Chairman and two Members) out of which atleast one shall be a specialist in Ortho / Optho / ENT depending on the disability. Certificate obtained from an individual doctor will not be considered. The medical certificate should be in the prescribed format given in Certificate No. I, II and III. 2
7) MERIT LIST A) MERIT LIST FOR M. Sc. (COMPUTER SCIENCE) / M. Sc. (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY) A merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained for 300 (Maths-100; Physics-100; Chemistry-100). In cases where more than one candidate have got the same mark in the common merit list the inter-se merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below. (1) Percentage of marks obtained in Mathematics (2) Percentage of marks obtained in Physics (3) Percentage of marks obtained in the fourth optional subject and (4) Date of Birth. B) MERIT LIST FOR M. Sc. (ELECTRONIC MEDIA) A merit list will be prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in the subjects under Part III (Except Part I - Language and Part II - English) In cases where more than one candidate have got the same mark in the common merit list the inter-se merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below (a) Percentage of overall total marks and (b) Date of Birth. 8) COUNSELLING i) Candidates will be allotted seats through counselling. More number of candidates than the actual seats available will be called for counselling. The number of candidates allotted will depend upon the seats available, based on the merit of the candidates as per their rank following communal reservation. ii) Candidates should attend counselling at their own cost with all original certificates. If a seat is allotted, the fees must be paid. If a candidate has deposited all the certificates in an institution in which he/she has already been admitted, a letter from the Head of the Institution should be brought to that effect. In such case only, attested copies of certificates may be considered for verification. Seats will be allotted only when all the original certificates are produced. iii) The provisional rank list will be published in Anna University web portal: www.annauniv.edu. iv) Candidates who do not attend counselling on the prescribed date and time cannot claim any right for admission at a later date and their names will be removed from the merit list. v) Rank list and counselling schedule (date, time and cut-off mark) will be published in Anna University web portal. All the eligible candidates should download the Intimation of Counselling (Call Letter) from Anna University Web portal http://www.annauniv.edu. Eligible candidates who have applied and whose marks are as specified or above the cut-off mark called for counselling, may appear with their original certificates. (List is available in Anna University web portal (Item No. 11) two hours before the counselling session. College and branch will be allotted only through counselling as per their rank following communal reservation. Counselling will be held at Centre for Entrance Examinations and Admissions, Anna University, Chennai-25 only. Candidates should attend the counselling at their own cost and risk. Candidates who do not attend the counselling on the specified date and time cannot claim any right for admission at a later date. 3
9) POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP In the G.O. (st) No. 6 Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare (AD3) Department dated 09.01.2012, G.O. (st) No. 92 Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare (AD3) Department dated 11.09.2012 and G.O. (st) No. 16 Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare (AD3) Department dated 24.02.2014, the Government have ordered to grant Post Metric Scholarship to SC/SCA/ST candidates, whose parental annual income is less than Rs. 2,50,000/- and for SC/SCA converted Christians annual income is less than Rs. 2,00,000/- from all the sources only are eligible.
