ACT Aspire Classroom Assessments Periodicals - Two types - Classroom and Interim Classroom will be given by the local school level schedules Classroom teachers can give these No testing window required Six assessments (fixed format and all multiple choice) Duration - 15-20 minutes Interim will be given by the local school level schedules Four assessments Fixed format and all multiple choice Duration - 45 minutes The Classroom and Interim (Periodicals) Assessments will provide feedback within an hour, usually 15 minutes. This will depend on how the sessions are set up. An example of possible set up is dependent on whether each academic class is a session or a grade group. Each choice is manageable by local decision. Teachers will have access to these reports. STEP 1 - Preparing for a Classroom Assessment: 1. Log in to https://www.actaspire.org/login using your registered account. Username = email address, password is set by user 2. Under the Classroom Tests tab, select Create a Test Session 1. Test Admin: Choose a test, select the to display a list of tests. Click Online next to the desired test. 2. Testing Schedule: The start and end date, start and end time and days of the week field auto populate when you choose the test. These do not need to be changed. 3. Testing Details: After selecting a Test a default title is provided. Edit the title using the following naming format: Teacher s Initials, Grade, Subject. Debbie Kunz, Grade 5, Math would be: DKG5M Kunz 5 th Math 4. Click Create Test Session to publish the session. Then you can add students and teachers. 1
3. In Test Session Details section add students and teachers Click Add to choose students and teacher. 1. Click the drop down arrow to choose a group then check the box select the desired student group. 2. Check the box next to the students to include in the group. (Note: Click the check box next to the word student at the top and it will select all the students in the list.) 3. Click the drop down arrow to choose the teacher, check the box next to the desired teacher. 4. Click Done. 2
The Test Session Details show the Test Name, the students that are enrolled in the test and the username and password for students to use to take the test. STEP 2 - Administering the Classroom Assessment 1. Print student authorization tickets a. Log into www.actaspire.org/login, click Classroom Tests, Find My Test Sessions b. Click on the name of the test session c. Click Authorization d. Click For All Students e. Click View as PDF f. Click Submit g. A pdf file will be generated with students authorization tickets h. Print authorization tickets Note: By default authorization tickets print one student to a page so that the rest of the page can be used as scratch paper 3
2. Start the test session by clicking Ready then Start Test 3. Students should log into laptops or computers with his/her Elkins computer username and password 4. Students do not log into Chromebooks, click the waffle at the bottom and click TestNav 5. All computers desktops, laptops and Chromebooks have the TestNav app installed Double click on the TestNav icon 6. In the window that opens click ACT Aspire Note: If students choose The ACT instead of ACT Aspire it is shown in the window that opens. 7. This box will open: If the wrong test is chosen the username and password on the test ticket will not work 8. To change the test click the dropdown arrow in the top right and click Choose a different customer 9. Sign in using the username and password on the test ticket STEP 3 Finishing the Test Session 1. Collect all test tickets and scratch paper when the test is complete 2. Find your test session, click Ready then Test Session Complete 4
STEP 4 - Reports 1. Reports should be available within an hour 2. Instructions and/or training will be available soon Computer Tips: 1. Be sure laptops and Chromebooks are charged check carts the night before to make sure each device is plugged in and that the cart is plugged into the outlet 2. Any pop-up message will kick the student out of the secure browser (TestNav) this includes low battery messages 3.
