(1-3) A. Prerequisite: students must select topic and have Independent Studies Proposal Form approved by faculty supervisor and department chair prior to enrollment. May be retaken to a maximum of three hours. Course Objectives and Student Learning Outcomes: COM 799 provides a graduate-level interdisciplinary independent study course within the Department of Communication. Specific student learning outcomes for participants will depend on the subject matter of the individual course or project, and must be described in full in the Independent Studies Proposal Form. Grading: Grades will be earned on the basis of the following elements: Proposal: 20% Research and data analysis: 30% Final product/paper: 50% Final grades will be on the following scale: 90 to 100% = A; 80 to 89% = B; 70 to 79% = C; 60 to 69% = D Student Progress: Students will receive a written grade prior to mid-term grades being submitted (approximately the 6th week of the semester).
