Letter to Paul Dear Paul, My name is Cliodhna Corr and I m delighted that you will be coming to a family in my parish next summer as an exchange programme. In order to give you an insight into life in my parish I have compiled a Parish Project for you. Your parish seems very interesting. Well done on winning the soccer competition. I am twelve years old. I am now studying French and Irish. My interests are football and I play the fiddle in my old primary school. My Daddy is a Eucharistic Minister and my Granny and Granada use to be the Sacristans of Clonoe Parish. There are a lot of things to do in my parish especially masses and they will be on nearly every day including the Novena on Tuesday nights. My brother plays football for Clonoe. I am learning to play some instruments in music class in my new school St Patricks Academy. I am in 8D and I have made a lot of new friends and I have lots of new subjects. There are four football teams in my parish and there is always is a football match to go and see. There are also four primary schools in my parish and there are three nursery schools. Just like you my parish is very busy and there is a lot going on in it and I hope to be seeing you next year. 3
History of Clonoe Parish The history of Clonoe goes back to the time of St Patrick, who said to have preached near Magheramulkenny; there is also a link to the townland Killen, which means that there were probably an Old Church nearby in the early Christian times. The old Chapel was built in the 1780s so it was standing for at least 200 years. Brocagh was built in 1834 and the same with Kingsisland. Fathere Mackeone came to the chapel in 1986 and wanted to build a chapel that resembled the old one so he included the altar, stained glass windows, statues, Stations of the Cross, Holy water Fonts, The bell and the Sanctuary Lamp. Once he had finished Clonoe Chapel and wanted to renovate St Colmcilles chapel. He then moved on to St Brigit s Brocagh and he renovated it as well. He wanted to make it bigger but it was impossible because the graveyard surrounding it. He also had built a Parochial House in his time with the construction. Clonoe Chapel had recently just had their 25 th Jubilee last year and a lot of turned up to the celebration in the Chapel. 4

The Role of a Priest. Priest are very busy and they are never really finished work. They have to be on call every day and night encase someone is hurt or ill. They are encouraged to take one day of a week but they still want to help all of us in the parish. One of the most satisfying things about being a priest is being part of a faith community and being a pastoral leader. This involves presiding at communal worship. It also involves being among smaller communities, such as families at big moments like weddings and baptisms. Father John Mc Callion. Father Kieran MacKeone. Father Benedict Fee 7
