NATIONAL CHILD AWARD FOR EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT FOR THE YEAR 2012 The Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India, have instituted the National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement in the year 1996 to give recognition to children with exceptional abilities and outstanding caliber in different fields such as academics, arts, culture and sports etc. You may download the scheme and the application form from the website of the Department www.wcd.nic.in. The applications alongwith the supporting documents should be addressed to the Director, Department of Women & Child Development, 1-A, Canning Lane, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi 110001. Applications are invited for the award from the persons residing in the NCT of Delhi. NATIONAL CHILD AWARD FOR EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT FOR THE YEAR 2012 The Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India, has instituted an Award called National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement in 1996 to give recognition to children with exceptional abilities and outstanding caliber in different fields such as academics, arts, culture and sports etc. Tributes/traits, which are claimed to be possessed by the child extraordinary or exceptional, should be reported in the Press, or have been tested by experts in the field. It should also be possible to subject the claim to an objective test. The National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement will be given to one child from each State/U.T. There will be one Gold Medal for one child at Notional level and Silver Medals for one child from each State/U.T. For Gold Medalist, a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/-, a Citation and a Gold Medal will be given. The other Children will be presented with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- each, a Citation and a Silver Medal. Children within age group of 4-15 years are eligible for the Award. Children should not be more than 15 years of age on 31 st July, 2012. Sub: - National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement for the Year: 2012 The Ministry of Women and Child Development has instituted an Award called the National Child Award for Exceptional abilities and outstanding caliber in different fields such as academics, arts, culture and sports etc. the guidelines for this Award is enclosed at The Ministry has requested the Department to forward nominations for suitable children to select outstanding children for conferment of Award. Scopes of the Award- Children between the ages of 4-15 years are eligible for the Award.Children should not be more than 15 years of age on July, 31, 2012. Nature of Awards- The Awards for the child with exceptional achievement shall consist of:- (A) GOLD MEDAL-1 (One) (i) Cash Prize of Rs.20, 000/- (ii) Citation and certificates, and (iii) Gold Medal (B) SILVER MEDALS-35 (Thirty five) (i) Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000/- (ii) Citation and certificate for each awardee, and (iii) Silver Medal for each awardee A National Selection Committee will make the selection out of the recommended cases. The National Selection committee may, at its discretion, also consider individuals other that recommended by a state Government/U.T. Administration, for the Award.The state level selection committee consisting of following members will select at State Level: (1) Hon ble Minister of Women &Child Development Chairperson. (2) Secretary, Women & Child Development Member. (3) Secretary, Education Department Member. - 3 -

(5) President,Delhi council for child welfare- Member (6) Director, Women & Child Development Member secretary CRITERIA OF SELECTION The child is to be selected for the Award should unusual talent and exceptional achievement in any field including academics, arts, culture and sports etc. Age Certificate (Date of Birth) duly attested by a Gazetted Govt. officer may be attached. Attributes/traits, which are claimed to be processed by the child, extraordinary or exceptional, should be reported in the Press, or have been tested by experts in the field. It should also be possible to subject the claim to an objective test. DATE OF AWARD The award will be announced on 14 th November each year and will be given away in New Delhi on a date and time convenient to the minister for Women & Child Development.
